    Do they exist?

Virgin oak, as in charred, but has never held liquid since it was made.

All of Odell's Woodcut series beers are virgin barrel aged.

Dang I thought I'd finally found a thread that would direct me towards the ultimate beer - stout aged in oak barrels full of virgins.

Oak and vanilla, and more generically, wood. I would imagine charred oak might add some smokiness, as well.

I answered the second question, since the first question has been kicked around quite a bit. However, one of my favorites is DFH Burton Baton. I can't find confirmation that it's virgin oak, but there are certainly no bourbon flavors, nor do I get any wine characteristics. Same with the Oak Aged version of Backburner Imperial Barleywine by Southern Tier (there is a bourbon barrel aged version, as well).

Personally, I love oak aged beers. Cheers!

The Backburner is indeed new oak, and damn incredible.
