Hey all, my wife and I will be passing through Virginia and staying a couple of nights each in Lexington and Charlottesville.
I've done my research, and have a pretty good idea of a few places we will be hitting up while we're there. My question is what should I be looking for in the way of readily available local beer that I can bring back home with me? What should I be able to find on the shelves now that is worth picking up?
Also, any tips on the best BBQ and fried chicken places would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I'm assuming you're planning on a stop at Beer Run in C'ville. if not, do so.

the Blue Mtn barrel-house series should be available as well as some DC Brau and maybe some Foothills bombers (BA Peoples Porter) and Alewerks bombers (BA Porter)

Second on Beer Run in Charlottesville. Lots of Va beers, knowledgable staff who will point out unique beers they have. Not to mention the growler fills.

Big Jims BBQ in CVille is good (probably not much of a craft beer selection, but good BBQ).

Do not ignore Blue Mountain's regular offerings. I think their Full Nelson pale ale is one of the best of the style on the planet.
