Wife and I are taking a week to visit Williamsburg VA and Ocracoke NC. My tastes lean toward DIPAs and Stouts,; she will humor me as long as the food is good. Any suggestions for decent eateries with good beer selection?

Williamsburg: Precarious (1st place for me), Alewerks and VA Beer Company (2nd place tie), Billsburg... and Strangeways (RVA brewery) just opened up a satellite location there (have yet to visit the latter).

The 1718 Brewery in Ocracoke was a pleasant surprise last time I was there

Precarious is going to be your best bet for IPAs in Williamsburg. Depending on when you plan on traveling definitely check out Alewerks for Stouts. Alewerks has their main location and pretty much right across the street less than 2 miles away is their satellite location at the Premium Outlets if either of you are into shopping.

Not too familiar with Hampton Roads area and whet their breweries offer but Veil has a solid Stout game and should have a decent supply of whatever their bottled. You can even order online and they allow a 6 or 7 day grace period for pickup. You just select the date you plan to pickup though they have flexibility in that. They announce the new releases Sunday/Monday and are online for pre-order Tuesday morning at 8am I believe.

1718 has had some of the better "vacation" beer I have had in a while. Not your standard 6 shitty core beers in a small vacation town. They had all kinds of styles across the spectrum and all the ones I had were good. Highly Recommended! I can't comment on the food but they do have a kitchen (or at least someone has a kitchen...the food and beer are separate registers).
