Making a Saturday (May 16) road trip from Amsterdam to Cantillon and looking to hit the La Trappe monastery on the return to Amsterdam. Won't have time to do the tour, but will stop in the tasting room for lunch and looking forward to finding some bottles for takeaway, especially interested in the Oak Aged Quad, but haven't been able to tell how "rare" it is if at all. Does anyone know if I should expect to find it available at the store? I've heard the monastery is a great visit and would love to take my wife there but with the kids' activities we both can't go this weekend. Thanks for the help!
They have plenty of oak aged in their store and there is no limit on the amount of bottles you can buy. Last time I was there (4 weeks ago) they still had the Jubilaris for sale, which is a once brewed beer from 2013 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Dom Bernardus, also nice to try. Have fun there, it's a great place, especially if the weather is good!
If you just after the oak aged. You should try goto Achel brewery. There are lots of different trappist beers selling over there included La Trappe with better prices. I bought my oak aged over there.
