    Hi everyone,

I'll be in Charlotte this weekend for a wedding. Can anyone suggest some beers I can get in N. or S. Carolina I can't get in New York State?

Depends on your taste, but Noda and Olde Mecklenburg (there in Charlotte) offer a great variety of styles. Also, Olde Hickory, and Foothills. Others will surely chime in, but this is my take. Also, go by and see Michael Brawley on Park Rd. He's a good beer ambassador!

Additionally check seekabrew.com to see what the difference in distribution is...

Noda just canned Hop Drop and Roll IPA and their Jam Session Pale ale. For sale in the tasting room tomorrow and around town next week. I'd definitely suggest finding some.

In addition to everyone else's suggestions, if you have an extra 15 minutes, cross the state line to SC and grab some Westbrook (everything they make really). You won't be disappointed. Exit 90 (Frugal McDoogals) and Exit 85 (Grapevine) right off of I-77. Grapevine will likely have a better selection. Do NOT pass up a 6 pack of their Gose cans if you see it!

My suggestion for Olde Hickory beers...if the price is $4-5...pass. Their less expensive "core" beers are average IMHO (there are some exceptions). Their more expensive stuff ($6+ bottles) are usually very very good. Their imperial stout is awesome.

Some Westbrook stuff is available in NYC in cans/bottles and other stuff shows up on tap fairly regularly.

I'm with you... I lived in the NYC area and was looking forward to easier access to Westbrook with my move back to NC - never thought it would be harder to get

I don't know the distribution story in NYC, but for Westbrook to be there, I'll bet it's an occasional novelty rather than a steady stock item. I doubt (know) Westbrook could get close to producing enough beer for North Carolina.

One Claw has become one my new favorites of 2013...very tasty for a sessionable brew!

I got a lot of the canned offerings including Gose. They were not overly difficult to find either.

Wow. Did they sell well, generally?

It probably has something to do with a relationship with 12 percent imports...that would be my guess.

They must be tied in with Union in NYC?

Yep, if 12% has to go to WB to pick up the Evil Twin stuff they brew they might as well fill the truck with WB as well.

Oh, 12% is both NYC distributor and national supplier?

I think they are the importer for the entire country as well as the local NYC distributor. Everything made by ET goes through 12% at some point, even the stuff made and sold in SC has it right on the front.

Also, this is all way off topic from the OP, sorry about that.
