Im heading out Thursday to the Midwest and will be pretty close to 3 Floyd's Thursday night. In regards to beer to go the website isn't very detailed.

Is it worth going to the brewpub kiosk vs a store like Binny's? Can I get a wider selection of bottles at the Kiosk? Do they do 1L and 2L growler fills etc.

I just don't know much about the brewpub, but love their beer. Any info would be appreciated.

    Cheers!

You may get better info in the Great Lakes forum but I'll try to help. The kiosk is hit or miss. Yesterday was a big miss. They update every day here: http://www.3floyds.com/beers-to-go/

But if they don't have things like ZD or APW on I wouldn't expect to find them in binnys either. However I still think the brew pub is worth checking out. They have good food and obviously a great tap list. They also do NOT fill growlers.

I'd also still check out binnys just because they will have a wide range of beers that you won't get in cali.

I stopped at a Binny's about a month ago and they had no FFF. Stopped at the brewpub two weeks ago and all they had to for carry out was Alpha King, Pride and Joy and one other thing in a bomber.

Lot's of good stuff on tap, though.

I didn't realize they no longer fill growlers.

In my experience, Binny's tends to have more than the pub (but not always). Last week, LP Binny's had plenty of Dread, Arctic, Pride & Joy, Alpha King (just no ZD). The pub only had a couple bombers and 1 variety in 6-pack at any given time. Given 3 Floyd's immense popularity, I think they have a huge turnover of beer on shelves and it's really hit or miss anywhere you go, including the pub. I guess the bonus of the trying the pub is always a ton of great beer on draft if you have time.

Check the website around lunch time on Thursday. They seem to do most bottling on Wednesday or Thursday, and then sell out at the kiosk by Friday night or Saturday.

Our bottling line guys might like to only work Wednesday or Thursday, but they also operate Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.

I'd advise you, if you haven't been, to go to the brewpub anyway... it's a good time. If there are specific items you're looking for that aren't showing on the Three Floyd's site, check the Binny's website, and then give Binny's a call. Their staff is really nice and their website is usually pretty accurate.

Yeah, that's generally not my experience. Generally, the pub has more (and higher limits) than you'd get going to liquor stores in Chicago. Just watching twitter, most shops that aren't the Lincoln Park Binny's get 1-2 cases each of a few different things, and those cases last... a day maybe?

That said, go to a Binny's. Lincoln Park is good, but also check out South Loop, Grand Ave., or Downer's Grove (if you're out in the burbs). Pick from the dozens of other breweries around the Great Lakes region that you can't get in CA.

I was just there last Saturday, had spent the night in Chicago and gone to Binny's Saturday morning before going to 3F Brewpub on my way back to Ohio.

I found War Mullet at Binnys (South Loop), and they had plenty of Robert the Bruce, Pride and Joy, and another I can't recall. I bought two bottles of War Mullet just on the off chance I couldn't get it at the Brewery. Glad I did. They only had Artic Panzer Wolf, Man-O-Awe, Dreadnaught, and Alpha King in bombers. They had Gumbball Head (Which they sold out of by 2pm) and Pride and Joy in 6 packs at 3 Floyds. Couldn't find any at the liquior store down the street - However I did find a couple nice Mikkellers there.

All that being said... Definitely go there. Food was really good, and it's a great atmosphere. I had their smoked tomato sauce pizza, was exceptional and I was talking to two different guys who had their Mac and Cheese and couldn't say enough about it. I've had their burgers a couple times and they are really good too. They had some nice stuff on tap - Blakker is really good, and a few of their 'guest taps' were really good too. It's a very cool place, but what beer they will have is a crapshoot.

You will find a lot more than just 3 Floyd's to spend your money on at Binnys, so it's kind of must if you're out that way.

Funny, didn't mean to imply they only work those days, just that typically beers get added to the to go list on Wednesday and Thursday IMHO...

I just checked and didn't see zombie killer... zombie dust is on there right now. I have tomorrow off, I'm awfully tempted to take a short road trip down there tomorrow for lunch if it sticks around.

If you are in the South Loop area, make sure to check out Printers Row Wine Shop (http://www.printersrowwine.com/). They have a smaller selection, but you are more likely to find bottles of FFF and great PW that would have flown off of shelves the day they arrive.

I, too, will be visiting Three Floyds sometime this week. Will probably hit Flossmoor Station and wondering if there are any others in extreme NW Indiana that stand out? Thanks!

Between Flossmoor Station and FFF there is One Trick Pony in Lansing. It's right off of I-80 and very convenient to get to. Good beer and good people.

The answer to that would be 18th Street in the Miller section of Gary,IN. A stones throw from Three Floyds. Many more in NW Indiana if time allows, but 18th is the real deal if you're pressed for time.

Also traveling to 3Floyds brewpub in about 3 weeks. Looking for great bottle shops near the brewery in case I cannot get what I want directly from 3Floyds. I have used the beer locator on their site, but looking for people familiar with the area that can steer me to 1 or 2 close options.

    Thanks!

Stop at Delocks 822 ridge Road, its on the way to floyds if your coming off of 80/94, they usually have two to three bombers of three floyds available, also fat heads, some prairie artisan and others.
