I'm visiting DC and want local brews and to visit brewpubs. Any suggestions? Also going to. Nationals game any local beer there.
If you are going to be in Alexandria you have to check out Rustico. Church Key's little brother. Best tap list I have seen in VA hands down without the crowds of Church Key.
I went to Nationals Park for Paul McCartney last Friday and I was very unimpressed with the beer selection. I wound up with a Sam Adams Summer....so...
Rustico, Bilbo Baggins in Alexandria. You will either love or despise BB. Half the places in DC are local chains, Red Rocks and Pizza Paradiso are both on King in Alexandria.
It's good. Rustico also has good pizza and Pi Pizza in DC on F St. also has excellent pizza along with a good beer selection.
So, just stopped in Bilbo Baggins for lunch (work nearby). Never knew this place existed. Was empty, and had a great beer list. Will stop here many Fridays... All the other questions have been answered, there is local beer at Nationals Park, look for the booths that say District Drafts They usually will carry some things from Dc Brau, Mad Fox, Atlas, and 3 Stars. Another option is to go to the Red Porch and have the beers that are on tap there too. You may have to walk around a bit to find them but they are there. In fact I'll be there this evening as well!
In my opinion Pizza Paradiso have the best taps and bottle list after Church Key and quite enough of the time the P2 taps draw me in before the Church Key taps. Both are great. +1 here. I also believe that the taps rotate, so for example, you not find Mad Fox at the stadium every week. In contrast, Red Porch seems to have the same taps on a consistent basis.
