Any beer events or spots that are "must do" while I'm there?

This should provide you with a number of "tips" for your trip:

Hopefully, someone from the area can chime in about any upcoming events.

There are a lot of what I would call "should do" spots while in Anchorage (see the tread above), but IMHO, the Midnight Sun pub/tasting room is an absolute must stop destination while you're there. We always took a cab from downtown to get there, as we didn't have a car and it didn't seem like there was a bus line out that way. It's a spendy cab ride (around $15 each way), but I always felt it was well worth the cost to visit.

I also go up for work occasionally. I like the symbiosis that is going on between Midnight Sun and Anchorage Brewing. Steel sharpens steel.

Silver Gulch Brewery from Fairbanks has a brewpub on Concourse C past security. And.....I don't care what the reviews say.........I liked their Lowbush, a Cranberry Belgian Saison. It might have been the moment but it hit the spot after being 'dry' for a week at a remote site. The Tundra Apple Ale was interesting. If I did not know better, it seemed I was drinking a cider versus a beer.

They also have a bottle shop where you can pick up Anchorage Brewing and Midnight Sun at good pricing. Growler fills too. Past security.

A couple new spots have opened since that last thread. There are a couple events I've heard about this week and the first week of may, but nothing on my radar for next week. Some of the ANC locals might know otherwise. That said, here are spots you should definitely hit:

Midnight Sun Loft - good food, the biggest selection of MS beers you'll see
Anchorage Brewing - they recently opened their own brewery/taproom. While I haven't been yet, it's definitely a must-hit.
Glacier Brewhouse - on the chi-chi side, but some of their beers are outstanding.
Humpy's - Best beer bar in the city, stuff you likely won't find other places.
King Street - If you made it out to Midnight Sun or Anchorage, you might as well hit King Street, because it's in the neighborhood.

    If you're looking for bottles:
La Bodega - great bottleshop, awesome staff, and go next door to Cafe Amsterdam and have a pint.
Brown Jug Warehouse - probably the best bottle selection in town. Might as well swing by Moose's Tooth if you go here.

Resolution Brewing is the new kid on the block, and I've not had their beers or been to the pub, but I'll be in ANC this weekend and plan to check it out.

I finally made it to Resolution Brewing last week and grabbed two beers, and after drinking them my two thoughts were "I can't believe I waited a month to check this place out" and "I gotta get back over there ASAP!" Their cocoa, cinnamon, chilie stout, Cerveza De Los Muertos was awesome!

So much beer stuff to do, so little time. La Bodega looks legit as far as bottleshops go. I'll definitely have to work in some time to go there and see what I can grab to take home.

I looked up Resolution taproom hours and doesn't look like I'll be able to fit that one in unfortunately.

Anchorage just released Improv (6.5% wild) - an outstanding collab with Hill Farmstead - only available on draft at the brewpub. Also at ABC, bottles of Time Waits for No One (14% BA Stout) are available for onsite consumption.

On 5/1, check out Midnight Sun at 5PM for their monthly 1st Friday firkin - should be a good one because May is their 20th anniversary.

Brown Jug Warehouse has Deshutes Abyss, Super Jubale, Dissident, Black Butte XXVI, Not the Stoic, Mirror Mirror. There were still a few bottles of BA Bigfoot there over the weekend. If you're going to La Bodega, you might as well go next door for a pint at Cafe Amsterdam. They keep their drafts up to date on their website, but their bottle list on the menu has a few gems that you won't see on their website.

http://alaskanbeer.blogspot.com has weekly updates on Fridays. You can follow him on FB at "Beer on the Last Frontier" for more timely updates.

Thank you for the details. Can breweries in Alaska sell bottles to go, or fill growlers?

Yes and yes. Although not every bottle is available to go and not every draft is available for growler fill. It's up to each brewery.
