I will be going to Asheville this weekend and wanting to know the story on the where to go. Obviously I will be hitting up Wicked Weed and Green Man. What bottles-to-go does Wicked Weed currently have? What is the full package downtown restaurant that is rocking out the best food, beer selection, and atmosphere? Where can I get some Hop Drop 'n Roll in downtown? What is a necessary part of my visit I am leaving out?

I'd search some current threads for the heads up there.

Wicked Weeds bottles are hit or miss at this point. I'm assuming you can get the latest releases, Malice and Hipster Nuevo, and probably Serenity and Bretticent. Maybe Black Angel, but heard it was gone for now.

HDR, doesn't come to Asheville, but App Vintner drive out of town to get it and brings it back to sell. It's also hit or miss, and probably more miss than hit at this point since it's so popular.

I don't know if there's really a one stop shop. WW is a nice place, good food, not great, but good nonetheless and great beer. It'll be packed out, so go early as possible, or you'll probably be standing around outside waiting to get in, to wait an hour plus for a table.

As for eating options, like I said, seach the forum here, plenty of recent activity and questions that can be answered in that vein.

I swear we need a 'Visiting Asheville' thread kind of like the NW forum has a 'Visiting Portland' thread, just to collect all of these. There are numerous recent threads on Asheville, so not going to rehash all that much here. My favorite at the moment is still WW, with Burial a close second, and the Green Man tasting room rounding out the third spot. Pisgah is up there as well but I get the benefit of it not being directly in Asheville so I'm not ranking it directly against those three...

I wouldn't say there really is a place that puts it all together though. Weed is the closest as it has great beer and good food (though can be a bit of a pain to get in to eat at during normal eating hours on the weekend). Barley's is good as well. Thirsty Monk has good beer (a Belgian floor and a US floor), and the food is... passable (in that I can eat it and not feel like I have to go somewhere else to get food).

For HDR, I'd say you'll be lucky to find it in Asheville. Asheville in general I don't feel like goes gaga for non-Asheville beer, and then you have the problem that finding HDR outside of Charlotte is very hit and miss (even finding it in Charlotte can be a bit hit and miss).

Agreed, you could almost merge all the asheville threads into one and sticky them.

I agree with you about the repetiveness. Having more in depth guides for locations would be nice. I got a decent amount of info from your past posts in searching, thanks so much for the help. I guess now I am just trying to find out what is available at WW for to go.

I was there this weekend. They had Genesis, Hipster, Malice, Bretticent (i think), and Passiflora bottles for sale. They don't offer growler fills for their sours so no dice there. Definitely try the 'Merica Gone Wild though, it's solid.

Edit: we ate at WW and it was seriously one of the best burgers I've ever had. I got the Bison with blue cheese coleslaw and holy sh*t!

@dbrelsfo: Unfortunately, unless someone has been at the brewery days before you go, its a bit tough to tell. I'm not certain why, but WW's beers at the brewery seems to come and go a decent bit. I don't think they are actually bottling different batches -that- often (though maybe they are), so not entirely certain why that is. @dsigmon has the best info on that you'll probably get.

Awesome! Appreciate it! I definitely will try 'Merica Gone Wild. I really enjoy sours, so I am excited! Sounds like I will set aside a few hours for Wicked Weed.

WW this past weekend had in bottles:

    Malice
    Bretticent
    Genesis
    Hipster Neuveau
    Serenity

    I believe that is correct.

It was my favorite place/atmosphere that I stopped at while in the area.

I really enjoyed stopping at Pisgah Brewery as well. It's not far out of the way off of 40.

Went two weekends ago. We did lunch at wicked weed and watched the world cup and then hit Green Man and Hi-Wire. I would day drink and then hit some of the fine dining in Asheville for dinner. Curate and the Admiral were two spots we hit and both were fantastic. Drank wine or cocktails with dinner though.

I had the exact same trip down to watching the World Cup and the dinners with wine and cocktails at the Admiral and Curate. Both were great meals. Instead of Hi Wire, we hit up Burial and Twin Leaf late night. I highly recommend Burial. We also stopped in at Fonta Flora and Pisgah on the way into town, although I do not know that such stops make much sense coming from your way.

We tried to hit burial but they were closed for a "collaborative weekend."

So it appears they randomly release more bottles from time to time of certain things I guess. I wanted genesis as I thought it was one of their better beers, Oblivion being the best, IMO. But no Genesis, and had just ran out of Passiflora bottles, my wife loves that beer.

Also- I've had that bison.. it's meh, but goes well with something funky for sure.

I picked up two Genesis, two Hipsters, and two Malice before I left. I have had Serenity and wasn't a huge fan so skipped over that.

Oh come on, the bison was amazing...even the g/f loved it and that's a hard one to please haha. I had mine with the 'Merica Gone Wild. Reallllly hope they bottle that one.

I think they are bottling it randomly and pulling barrels and stuff. Black Angel was reportedly gone when I was there, and I ended up with a good few of them. I wanted oblivion and genesis really bad again, and they were out. The newer bottles have the silver caps. I have Serenity and Black Angel with the new caps. If they are gold caps, it's from the 1st run of bottling for the first couple of beers. Anything before the Passiflora and Oblivion release were gold original caps.

So I guess it stands to reason they will randomly put stuff out without any notice or flair, the way it should be.

Malice is delicious, I really liked it, and grabbed a few bottles. Hipster I was ehh on. Wasn't anything wild, wasn't even very tart, but a nice summer beer for sure.

Serenity is funky, I think it's not a favorite because it's not blended with anything, and is just a barrel wild ale.

The bison is good, but I've had better. Not fond of blue cheese, and the bison was overcooked, it dries out too easy. I've made better at home, but it's a brewery, I didn't go for the fare, just the liquids.

That interesting. I kind of expected the sour stuff that comes out of a barrel to be all aged at one time, but this sounds like a better way to do it so stuff stays around more evenly. I still have a Black Angel from the release day that will probably be cracked open soon as my wife still hasn't had it. Almost sent it away in a BIF and my wife gave me the stink-eye since we couldn't immediately get it again

For a decent nice restaurant with a pretty good beer list, I hit up Seven Sows which is a couple of doors away from Wicked Weed (not an amazing beer menu but what they had was solid) - I visited in early December.
