Driving to Asheville 3/27-3/31 from Chicago. Planning to hit WW, Burial, and Green Man. Bruisin and Appalachian Vinters for bottle stops.

Any other must stops as this is my maiden voyage? Can't wait!

    Thanks,
    Brian

Hi Wire has stepped up their game and is worth a visit. Twin Leaf has a great atmosphere and a couple of good brews. If you have time a trip to Black Mountain to Pisgah is good as well. Also check out the new Wedge during a weekday afternoon and have some 12 Bones which is attached to it.

I second twin leaf. The beer isnt quite as great but it is very good and the brewery is very nice and spacious

I'd skip twin leaf unless your bored on the south slope.

Hit up buxton hall or vortex donut as well for some eats.

The rest of the brewery recs are the usual suspects as it's been in every Asheville thread.

I'd also say check out tasty bev while on that side of town. Prepare to open your wallet at Bruisin ales. I'd stop their last for bottles in case you find anything you missed or couldn't find. You'll pay a premium there if you couldn't find it at stores or the breweries.

Make sure you realize Wicked Weed has two locations. Funkatorium and the Brew Pub. About a 5-10 minute walk apart.

This was the kind of recs I was looking for. If there are any more let me know.
    Thanks,

Make the drive out to the Sierra Nevada facility outside of town. Beer, food, and the building is amazing!

Highland is worth a visit too. The new brewmaster came from Stone her hoppy offerings are well worth drinking.

There is a bottle shop at Wicked Weed that has the freshest Freak of Nature and Pernicious IPA.

Also, at the original location, go for a late lunch. I've always found that to be the most enjoyable time to visit. Friday and Saturday PM are a zoo.

Hi Wire is a must. Their new(ish) sours program is making nothing but winners, and their offerings top to bottom are solid.

If possible, I highly recommend making the short drive up to Weaverville to visit Zebulon Artisan Ales.

    So a mini-poll:

We'll be in the Asheville area in three weeks. Definitely hitting both Wicked Weeds, Burial, Sierra Nevada, Pisgah, New Belgium, and Zebulon. I'm trying to limit it to just ONE more brewery. Which should it be? Green Man? Hi Wire? Or some other? (or are Green Man and Hi Wire equally good but not essential therefore we have to do both, lol) Want something downtown, will have kid with us, and my wife and I both favor sours and hoppy beers. Thanks!

QQ - is Hi Wire's tap room the one near Appaclachian Vintner? Or is there another location?

That's the Big Top, the larger location. The South Slope location is also open and I believe tends to have more of the sours on tap.

So I haven't been (yet, it's on my list for next time out to AVL) but I have heard good things recently about Bhramari Brewhouse.

Like what? I have been skipping hi-wire every time but this thread is giving me reason to try them again..

If I'm choosing between Green Man and Hi Wire, and I'm by myself, I'm giving the nod to Green Man (I'm a big fan of Dirty Jacks, the original location behind the Green Mansion, where they still do some of the small batch brewing). However, if I have kids in tow, i'd probably go Hi wire, as there might be a little more entertainment for them. Since Hi wire has stepped up their game as of late, I do think your right in that they are of similar quality. Hi wires sours are also a little more readily available then GM. But I like your thinking, if possible hit them both. I definitely give them both big nods over Twin Leaf.

Not sure if you're asking about Bhamari or Hi-wire here...

For Bhamari, the beer is usually interesting if not awesome. I have had a couple of quite good beers there, but nowhere near as high a ratio as at WW, Burial, etc. However, they'll have stuff you've never had before because its just kind of weird. That intrigues me, it might not others.

On the other hand, I've eaten there a number of times now and the food has always been very good.
