I'll be making a work trip to the Atlanta area tomorrow, any suggestions on good places for dinner and a couple bottle shops. What locals should I look for? Will be about 25min west of downtown then staying near the airport. Thank you for the suggestions!
My favorite bottle shops are Green's on Ponce and Hop City. Terrapin, SweetWater, Red Brick, Monday Night, Wild Heaven, O'Dempseys and Jailhouse are some locals in bottles you will find. You should still be able to grab some Terrapin Dos Cocoas and SweetWater just dropped a new Dank Tank (in bombers). Red Brick also has their 20th anniversary barrel-aged imperial stout out now. Lots of good food around the city and most carry decent beer lists as well; The Porter is my favorite beer bar and Twain's, 5 Seasons, and Wrecking Bar are all great brewpubs to get a bite and brew at. Atlanta has a lot of sprawl though so be prepared to drive around to hit these.
Green's on Ponce is a good bottle shop for sure. Porter and Brick store are great pubs along with the others mentioned. Apart from GA locals you'll be able to get Westbrook brews. Gose was still on the shelves at Green's yesterday. Enjoy your trip
Wrecking Bar taps a wood aged beer every Wednesday. It's a short walk to the Porter and also close to Fox Brothers BBQ. In Decatur, Brick Store and Twains are a short walk apart, as well as several good restaurants (Leons, 246, Cakes & Ale, Victory, Iberian Pig, Taqueria del Sol). 5 Seasons Westside and Hop City are next door to each other and are the closest to where you're staying. Several of the best restaurants in Atlanta are in that area, but I'm not really familiar with that area. Stopped by Green's and Hop City. Great stores! Picked up a sixer of Westbrook Gose, bottle of Older Viscosity, and bottle of Westbrook Cap'n Skoon's Ballistic Stout. Thanks again!
