I'm in Baltimore on business for a few days at the end of next week, staying central/harbour area. Can anyone recommend good bottle shops and bars in the neighbourhood?

What's the best brews that you can get there and nowhere else?

Also, will they be open Sunday 15th as that's my free day?

    Thanks

Max's Taphouse is a must stop... Also, Pratt St Alehouse is solid, being from the UK, they do a lot of English style ales. Also the Brewer's Art is worth seeking out.

I will second Max's Taphouse. Definitely the best beer bar in Baltimore. Amazing draft list and very extensive bottle list as well.

    Bottle Shops:
    Canton Crossing
    The Wine Source

Max's is a must...Brewers Art 2nd choice though the best brewpub in the city for my money.

Thanks all. Any recommendations of a particular local brew I should try?

Make sure you try some Heavy Seas, Union, Burley Oak, RAR, Jailbreak. I'm sure I'm forgetting some but others will chime in I'm sure.

Try Union's Old Pro if you like sours. Heavy Seas Loose Cannon is a local classic and Union's Duckpin is becoming one as well (unfortunately I don't think there is any fresh Double Duckpin around).

Union's Duckpin Pale Ale is favorite and I've never seen it outside the area. You're unlikely to find it outside of the mid-Atlantic (Maryland, Del, PA, NJ, NY).

Pretty sure you can't even get Union in PA or NJ. Does it even make it outside of MD?

Max's is a must stop for the enormous beer spectacle that it is. I also really enjoyed walking across the street to Bertha's Mussels. Respectable tap list, good atmosphere, great seafood. Another fun seafood experience place in Fell's Point is the Thames Street Oyster House. Rated one of the best places in all of Baltimore. A fun experience if you are new to oysters and adventurous. The staff is very friendly to the inexperienced and will help you out and show you how to eat them properly.

Being from the UK, I'm sure there will be an overwhelming amount of U.S. craft beer (not just Maryland local beers) that you will find available in the Baltimore area on tap and in stores. Enjoy!

+1 for Max's Taphouse. Great spot, worthy of all the praise it gets. If I lived near Baltimore I'd be there often.

They distribute to DC and NOVA beyond that I'm not quite sure.

Union Craft's Brewery is a good place to visit as well, it's about a 10 minute drive from the Inner Harbor, but they're closed on Sundays. There's a lot of good beer options in that part of town, someone already suggested The Wine Source but there's also Le Garage and Birroteca.
