Chow is awesome, but steer clear you're not a fan of hippies.

Would suggest the Deschutes brewpub downtown for a solid family friendly place, also has gluten free options if anyone needs it. Always a nice variety of small run Deschutes beers that you can't get anywhere else outside their pubs.

Had breakfast at both Chow and Victorian Cafe last visit, both were awesome. I'll toss in a vote for Riverside Market as well, although admittedly better in the summer when you can hang outside.

That's a good point about Notorious (when it's available). There are a couple of places here in Eugene that will still do growler fills of it, when they have it, but it's becoming an increasingly rare thing to see down here.

I pass on brunch at Victorian Cafe and Chow. They both have good food, but not mind-blowing. Service is usually slow as hell, and there is almost always a wait. I usually opt for McKay Cottage instead.

Spork on the other hand is dope. The Lot also has some pretty good options, and has a decent tap selection as well.

Just chiming in to thank the OP for asking this question when you did. I definitely bit off it during my trip to Bend this weekend. My kind of town for sure, although Crux is so great that it makes it hard to argue for anywhere else in town.

I will say that I was pleasantly surprised by a beer called Comet that they had on tap at 10 Barrel. I was "dragged" there by the rest of my group but that beer was excellent.

Hitting Bend this weekend. Planning on hitting Crux, Boneyard, and Sunriver. Been to Deschutes many times so may skip that this year.

On a side note, going to be doing a lot of BBQ/Cooking at the house we have. Any recs for good Butchers/Meat Markets/Stores to shop at?

Also, any other good places to fill growlers/pick up bottles?

    thx

Grocery store? Newport Market is pretty good. There's a Whole Foods but farther out of town near the Costco.

Bottle shops? Broken Top, Brew Shop and Crow's Feet Commons. Newport Market has a nice selection, too.

Growler fills? Boneyard, Growler Guys and Grower Phils.

We'll be down there as well this weekend. Have fun!

Growler Phils shares a space on Galveston with Primal Cuts butcher shop. If nothing tickles your fancy, distantmantra's suggestion of Newport Market is only a few blocks away.
