Haven’t heard anything, but I’ll ask. Did you get any of the Jubel 2015?

Mighta had a draft pour or two, don't specifically remember. But, what I do specifically remember is thinking "Hmm, well then, there's a blatant marketing grab". Shrug. Our modern world.

In the back of my cold heart, I hope somewhere I can find a Unicorn, the mythical creature that was the Jubel2000.

OOoooohhhh! I misremembered! I didn't do a review, but, here it was on my list: https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/63/149763/

Mentioned this in another post, but info seems to be coalescing around a Bend taproom for Redmond-based cask brewery Porter. I haven’t been drinking cask for decades or anything, but to my palate these guys are hitting the sweet spot of sub-5% ABV with plenty of flavor to session.

Porter Brewing is my only experience with cask ales (that I can recall). If I lived in Redmond, I'd hit that spot way more often than I do. I try and time my roadtrips to PDX and back so I can stop there on my return to Bend. I enjoy their ESB and porter. My co-worker really likes their Irish red.

Their vibe is very casual and nice contrast to the bro-brah brewpubs that abound. However, I seem to always run into their arts and crafts nights where they do a paint-by-numbers kind of thing and there are only a couple of seats available for those not doing the painting thing. I find it kinda wierd, but I see how other people might enjoy it. Family friendly activity, etc. Definitely more of a locals spot. I get the sense that this is more like an english pub than the stereotype of an english pub. A nice quiet spot with frequented by people who live around the corner. I couldn't help but notice that the crowd that I see there is, shall we say, older and bolder. (As someone with an AARP card, I resemble that remark.)

I could do with more food options than the BBQ food truck. but I recently heard that truck has moved on and I don't know what has replaced it yet.

I love cask ale and will definitely pop in on my way too and from the Ochoco's next summer ( camping).
Hey i'm an oldster too..i think its because cask appeals to the more mature drinker as it doesn't "blow" you up and is usually lower ABV.
The best cask ale made in Oregon is my local Santiam Brewing in Salem.

    Gotcha, did not realize that!

Swung by last night and these are both still for sale...Sweet and boozy, not my favorites but I have had worse!

Market of Choice definitely has a solid selection and it was interesting to see Narrow Gauge with it selling out at their taproom and not distributed within St. Louis. It was nice to see Abraxas although I did not check the date on it but would recommend that over the Sunriver
Mi Casa es Su Casa - Barrel Aged Blend.

This is excellent news. Still haven't made it up there because I don't feel like driving up to Redmond most days.

at least four good reasons to drive up to Redmond:

    1) Beer Stop
    2) Porter Brewing
    3) Diego's
    4) Redmond Smokehouse

(if you count Redmond Smokehouse as good jerky AND bacon...that's five good reasons)

Thing is, I homebrew and brew so much that I rarely go out and buy beer to begin with. When I do, MoC and the Brew Shop are closer. As for food, well, I'm dating a chef. :grinning:

I used to cook for a living...but that doesn't prevent me from enjoying a Southwest style chicken fried steak at Diego's.

Be careful with Market of Choice - while they have an impressive selection, they are also quite often priced significantly higher.

The chicken fried steak used to have a cheddar/jalapeno sauce (if I recall) which I find preferable to the current chorizo cream sauce...but that's splitting hairs. I never met a chicken fried steak I didn't like.
