My initial research seems to point to Big Ditch and 12 Gates. Would love any recommendations from the BA community.

Thin Man, Community Beer Works and Big Ditch are all pretty close to one another and all definitely worth checking out. Haven't had anything from 12 Gates but have heard good things.

If you can make it to East Aurora check out 42 North and a bottle shop called Aurora Brew Works

Can't go to East Aurora without grabbing some incredible Buffalo Wings and Beef on Weck next door to Brew Works at Bar Bill either

If you're gonna get a beef on weck and have never had one before, it needs to be from Schwabl's or Charlie the Butcher.

If you're closer to downtown, Thin Man and Big Ditch are worth your time. If you are in the north towns, Moor Pat in Williamsville is a nice spot if you're looking for a bar. I echo everyone's take on East Aurora- plus they've opened a new Griffon Pub as well. Usually a good tap list but watch the pricing- it's wonky.

Buffalo has certainly experienced a beer renaissance- that said, I'd avoid beer from the following places: Hamburg, Flying Bison, 12 Gates, Rusty Nickel. Nothing from Resurgence or Community Beer Works has impressed me either.
