My parents are going to visit my little sister at UVM in about a month. My parents being the awesome people that they are offered to send me a box of beer while they are in Burlington. That being said they have very little interest in beer, so I want to make this as easy as possible for them.

    My questions are:

    1) If my parents are staying in downtown Burlington, where is best/most reliable place to land alchemist, Fiddlehead, and Lawsons?

    2) What are some local breweries that I should know about? Which ones would be fun for my parents to visit/eat a good meal at? A huge bonus would be any sort sustainability initiative that a brewery has started and is proud of showing off.

    3) Can they find HF in Burlington? If not, how is the visit to the brewery? Is there food, stuff beyond beer that they could enjoy? I think I could ask my parents to go to HF if I knew they would enjoy themselves. Are there any good sites/hikes around the HF brewery that they could also do?

Healthy Living is near UVM - if they can go Wed they can get Sip of Sunshine and Heady (two 4-packs) together. I'd go an hour early just to be sure. If they go Monday morning they can get a case of Heady.

Hill Farmstead - you have to go to the brewery.

Fiddlehead has a good pizza place in the building (check hours).

HF is in the middle of nowhere and about an hour and a half from Burlington. And once you get there it's usually another hour (not sure how the new ticket/card system works) once you're there.

I would also look out for Lost Nation. Their Mosaic IPA is great and if you like Goses their version isn't bad.

Since it's your parents, and I'll assume they don't want to wait in hour long lines for you, tell them to go to one of the bevies and get cans/bottles of Lost Nation, 14th Star, Zero Gravity, Foley Bros, Frost, etc. Then tell them to eat at Farmhouse Tap & Grill (best beer bar in town, great local food) or American Flatbread (local ingred pizza & great brewpub).

HF doesn't distribute bottles/cans. Heady still goes pretty quick or they have to have good timing or wait in lines. Fiddlehead sells majority at brewery (only sends leftovers to distribution, which lately hasn't been any) and huge lines on release dates. SoS is usually available at Winooski from Friday noon to Sat noon or later.

If you decide that you're going to send your parents to HF, which, as has already been stated, is a ways away, it might be best to have your parents go through the bottles only line, since these beers are going to be shipped to you.

Can releases of Second Fiddle at Fiddlehead are usually pretty quick. Cash only. Line will be long, but moves fast. Was out their by 11:15 after 11am opening last Saturday. Its in Shelburne, town next door to Burlington. Nice town, nice farmers market on Saturdays.

Sorry to dig up such an old thread here, but I'm a little confused about Healthy Living's Monday drops. On the top of the page it's listed as 3:30, then lower down on the flyer it says 11am. Can anyone clarify? I'll be getting into down midday tomorrow.

I always forget how helpful Twitter and FB can be, as I don't use either very often. But after about 90 seconds of searching on Twitter I found it's 3:30. THanks.
