I'll be in Carolina Beach for a wedding this Saturday August 10th and staying for a few days. Checking the places on BA it looks like Cape Fear Wine & Beer, the Fat Pelican and Front Street Brewery are places I should check out. Is this true? Anywhere else I've missed? In Massachusetts we get most of our beer at liquor stores. Is it the same in NC or do you guys go to supermarkets? I'm staying near a Food Lion. They have any good beer? Thanks for your input.
Yes, those are the places that you should check out - there is another thread in this forum with a bunch of comments about visiting Wilmington that has places listed. In NC, you can buy beer and wine at grocery stores/convenient stores/gas stations/beer & wine stores - but for liquor you have to go to a state run ABC store (and all they sell is liquor). Food Lion will have some beer but it will not be a great selection - though there are usually some NC beers with wider distribution.
Fat Pelican is great, just check if there is a date on whatever bottle you grab. Sometimes they let things sit on the shelf for a bit too long, but other than that it's one of my favorite places to grab a beer in Carolina Beach.
