I am heading to Chantilly, VA, next weekend (2/28 to 3/2) to visit my college roommate. I may have some time on Friday and on Sunday to check out some local craft beer options. I welcome any suggestions for places to visit, preferably ones that are very close or ones that are on the drive from the Pittsburgh area. Thanks, folks...

Ummmmmm. Well, there is stuff not in Chantilly you can do. There are a few breweries West of you (Lost Rhino, Adroit Theory). You can also head in towards the city and hit some awesome craft spots. Or just drive the 30ish minutes into the District.

Couple options, head south to Manassas and check out Nano Bad Wolf Brewing Co. and then go across the road to full on, new production brewery Heritage. Both are pretty solid in different ways. More variety at Bad Wolf due to the size but more consistency at Heritage. Both are a worth stop.

There's a Total Wine & More and a Dogfish Head Alehouse in Chantilly. The Whole Foods at Fair Lakes is near Chantilly and it has a great selection and at least 16 beers on tap at various food stations.

I forgot to mention that the Total Wine and Dogfish Head are in the same Greenbriar shopping center on Lee Jackson Highway.

Just do yourself the favor and take the ride into DC and go do DC Brau. Get yourself some On the Wings of Armageddon. DC Brau is not far at all from Chantilly... maybe 30 min or less.

Other than that you have to travel some distance... you can go to Frederick MD and hit up Flying Dog - The Truth is soooo good.

You can head south to Ashland and go to Center of the Universe or you can go all the way to Richmond and go to Hardywood.

But all that being said... just go to DC Brau.... the best brewery by far - but you have to make time between 12 and 4 on Saturday.... it will be worth it.
