    Hi all,

I'll be visiting Chicago this weekend. Any suggestions for what beers I should seek out? I'm mostly into NE styled IPAs right now. All suggestions are welcome!

For NE style you've got Forbidden Root and Corridor in the city, though they are not near each other.

In the western burbs you've got Mikerphone, More, and Noon Whistle. More and Noon Whistle are about 10 minutes apart.

Apart from those known for NE style, Half Acre and spiteful are great place and are right next to each other. Off Color has a new taproom with plenty of funk creations, and rev is great reliable stop with great prices on beer and food.

*Half Acre’s Balmoral taproom is next to Spiteful. Half Acre’s taproom on Lincoln is not but, it’s a short drive away. If you’re in from Washington the separate locations may not be obvious.

Sorry for stealing or hijacking this thread. Okay, borrowing. I didn’t want to start another new Chicago visit thread.
Another year has come and gone since my last visit. And I’m sure lots have changed since April 2017 in Chicago’s craft scene. Actually my last visit to your beautiful city was Sept 2017. But that was with the wife. I didn’t have time to go to “my go to” places with the exception of Half Acre-Lincoln. Plus we stayed downtown then. I’ll be at my usual place for training, Elk Grove/Des Plaines/ Mt Prospect area. I see Mikerphone is now open on Monday’s and Wednesday’s at 4. That’s good for me. I’m a good hike from there. And a short Uber drive back to room. Plus Moretti’s in between.
Okay. So I’ll be in the area from April 9-12. I’ll have all afternoon and evening Monday to hit up Chicago and area. But would like to keep it in a somewhat small area. And would like to visit Off Color. Tue thru Thur will have to be local near where I’m staying at.
Some of the places I’ve been to before on my Chicago visits.......Kuma’s, Piece, Revolution, Bigby’s, Mikerphone (which I will visit again this trip), Half Acre, Lockdown Bar n Grill, Binney’s, Moretti’s, Jonnie’s Beef, Logan’s Arcade, Goose Wrigley, Beer Temple, Fischman Liquor, etc. I’m sure I’m missing a few. I’ve been trying to get over to Revolution Tap House but there closed Mon and Tue.
So anything new to add would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I should mention I like ipa’s. Hoppy, citrusy, and yes some hazy. But I still prefer west coast. Also into stouts. I’ve had most of the regular stuff from Pipeworks, Revolution and Half Acre. I am planning to ship some cans/bottles back home. Or checked bags.

Besides Mikerphone, More Brewing is further south in Villa Park. Use Anee is in Niles to the east. Short Fuse is nearby in Schiller Park. Their IPA's and pilsner are good, but the rest were average.

Depending where you're staying, you could take the blue line train into the city from Rosemont, and hop off at different stops and hit several nearby spots. Logan Square (Longman, Small Bar, Hopewell), California (Revolution, Vas Foremost, Radler), Western (Map Room, O's), or Damen (Piece, Links, etc.). From Damen you can Uber back & forth to Off Color Mousetrap. Revolution brewpub (2323 N Milwaukee Ave.) is open every day, which would fit into your Monday plan. Plus they have food, and it's a short walk from the train.

If you’ll be in the city, I’d recommend the following path.

Forbidden Rooot -> Off Color -> Corridor -> Beer Temple

Beer Temple is both a top 3 bottle shop in the city, and one of the best beer bars in the city. It’s close
to Revolution also if you wanna make a stop at either of the Rev locations.

Forbidden Root and Corridor are 1a and 1b for the best hazy beers in the city. Revolution, HA, Pipewoks and FFF, are still the best in the area for non-haze.

Forbidden Root has a much more solid line-up of non-ipa beers, and the food is really good as well.

Yeah I've done the Blue Line route many a times on my travels to Chicago. I will be taking the Blue Line once again. But Off Color is on my radar this time. Just trying to figure out where else I could utilize my short time on Monday. Some places are closed on Mondays. And I'll have from 1pm till 6 or 8pm to party before I head back over to Elk Grove area.

Beer Temple, Corridor, and Forbidden Root are great suggestions, though that’s a lot of Ubering. Green Lady is close to Corridor also, they open at 4pm.

Right, you don’t have to stick to the blue line exclusively, just lots of options (Rev, Eris, Old Irving, Piece brewery-wise) and it’s on the way back. Since you have limited time, Uber is a good idea to head east.

TG’s Sorcerer soundtrack is an all-time fav btw :grinning:
