    Need recommendations around Cincinnati for:

    1. Breweries/Brewpubs
    2. Restaurants with good beer selections and whether or not they're family-friendly - (will have my wife and kids part of the time)
    3. Best places to buy beer to take home

Any help would be much appreciated

    1. Rock Bottom Brewery in downtown Cincinnati has good beer & good food.
    2. For good pizza & beer, go to Dewey's or for burger's & beer go to Zips in Mount Lookout.
    3. Jungle Jim's is a must see for beer and food of all kinds to take home. In northern Ky., go to Party Source or DEP.

There are many more places for beer, food, etc. Check out places for Cincinnati.

The Party Source is a great place to buy beer; however, it is in Kentucky right across the river though. Ludlow beer and wine is interesting; although, there isn't a huge selection. One of my new favorites is riddle road market. They have some good finds. Jungle Jims is always worth a visit; however, getting there is a royal pain in the ass.
As far as bars go, I have a few to recommend. Fries cafe always has an amazing selection of beer on tap. Adriaticos just opened up in Clifton; really cool tap selection and the pizza is wonderful (family friendly as well).

Thanks for the ideas... Keep them coming. I'm actually staying across the river in Kentucky so I'm down With some spots there too.

A little further East in Cincinnati off Columbia Parkway or Rt 50 in Mariemont is a great food/beer place and kid friendly called the Dilly Deli. Check that out if you have time.

Right in Newport, KY there's the Hoffbrau Haus as well. Big German beer haul with decent beer made on site and delicious food. Family friendly and can take large groups. In Cincy, I'd also look at the Lackman and MOTR for bars. MOTR has some great bands at night.

    Must hits:
Brewpubs: rock bottom ... And ... moerlien's lager house will be open by then I think!
Those are your only 2 options idle brewpubs

    Restaurants with good taps:
**** and bull Hyde park (and Covington)
    Keystone in Covington
    Deweys pizza

Also a must hit if you're up for later night: haufbrau haus. A decent restaurant but a really AWESOME evening entertainment venue (and they brew some very solid German lagers served by the liter)

Buying bottles: cork and bottle Covington, party source and party town are musts (party town for their 18 growler fill taps)

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but heading to Cincy this weekend. Staying downtown and looking for good beer. Preferably things i can't get in philly.

    How's Lackmans?

Lackman has a good selection, not my favorite bar though. It's realllly expensive unless you go for happy hour. it also gets packed on Fri and Sat nights.

I know Rock Bottom is a chain but the brewer at the Cincy location is an amazing brewer. Order off the chalkboard and not one of the standard menu beers and you should be set. IMO, Rock Bottom >>> Moerlein Lager House.

Party Town in NKY is only about 15 minutes from downtown and has the best growler selection in the area. They also keep stuff in the back (last 2 times I have went they have Bourbon County and 120 Min in the back).

Party Source is a bottle shop 5 minutes from downtown and has the largest selection.

Fries Cafe is about 10 minutes from downtown and is my favorite bar in Cincy. It's a cross between a dive and a beer bar. No food here, but you can bring food in. Amazing patio and best prices in the city.

Comet is another cool beer bar/dive about 15 minutes from downtown. It is nearby another good bar called Northside Tavern.

One of my favorite places for beer AND food is Teller's in Hyde Park. They usually have about 20 very solid drafts and their food is awesome.

Dilly Cafe is also a good bottle shop/restaurant that is probably ~15 minutes from downtown.

    Sweet. Thanks for the help.

Is it true that 3F is available in Cincy? How about Surly?

I'm going to run out of Heady Topper and Deviant Dale tonight. By friday night I will be in full-on hop withdrawl....

Not sure which you mean by 3F (three floyds or 3 Foentein) but both are available in Cincinnati. Dilly, Dutch's and Jungle Jim should have 3 Foentein. We only get 3 Floyd's Bombers (no 6 packs). Pretty much all of those bottle shops should have 3 Floyd's bombers. I have also heard great things about Ludlow Wine.

For your hop fix, try White Rajah by the brew kettle while you are in town. We also just started getting Sculpin.
