My wife and I will be in Cbus for 3 days next weekend. We plan on visiting many of the breweries in the city. We are planning to ride our bicycles around the city. This is a loose itinerary. Are any of these breweries in areas that you would feel really unsafe riding bikes in during daylight hours? Am I missing anything/anywhere that shouldn't be missed?

    Thursday-(all 3)

    North High
    Lineage
Random Precision (More about the Olentangy Trail than the brewery)

Friday- (3 or 4 of these)

    Four String
    Endeavour
    Knotty Pine
    Sideswipe
    Smokehouse

    Saturday- (3 of these)

    Wolf’s Ridge (Definite)
    Elevator
    Platform
    Pretentious Barrel House

    We might walk to

    Hoof Hearted (definite)
    Seventh Son
    Barleys

Others will be better able to assist you with route and safety issues. However, as a Clevelander who visits about twice a year, I feel obligated to opine that Seveth Son is an absolute must. Some of the best beer in the city and the best vibe out of all the breweries, save for maybe a sunny day at Wolf's Ridge taproom. I also really like North High. It's just a small, simple taproom but I love the vibe there as well, very low key and welcoming. Always a strong taplist with some one-offs. Enjoy!

Never been to Sideswipe, but it’s proximity to the Hilltop (not the greatest of areas) would make me a little nervous, but maybe I’m just being a wuss.

Pretentious Barrel House is in a some what sketchy area, I personally wouldn’t ride my bike there, but again it’s possible I’m just a wuss. Their stuff is good though if you enjoy sours.

Random Precision I would caution you that while it’s only a mile off the Olentangy Trail, the road leading to it (161) is only 1 lane in each direction most of the way and has a tendency to get backed up. It’s been awhile since I’ve been out that way, but I’m pretty sure there are no bike lanes, sidewalks, or shoulders to speak of once you get past Olentangy River Rd. Would avoid biking there during rush hour unless you’re comfortable sitting in traffic.

I would suggest Land-Grant if you’re looking for a place closer to the Olentangy Trail, get some Ray Rays BBQ while you’re there.

Only other brewery I can think of is Rockmill which has a brewpub/restaurant in the Brewery District. I’m sure there’s others though that I’m forgetting.

Go to pins mechanical after Wolf's Ridge. It's next door and a lot of fun with a pretty good tap list.

The Brewdog DogTap opened right down the street from North High last weekend. If you are into that sort of thing.

I work a half-block from Platform. Pay attention, people fly around in their cars and there are plenty of blind spots if cars are at meters in that area.

Thanks! I will have to take a closer look at those areas.

I plan on riding through the Indian Hills neighborhood to miss as much of 161 as I can.

Thanks for the Heads up about Land Grant. Ray Rays BBQ Truck looks good!

I see they have a lot of beer from local places I won't be able to hit while in town. At least I'll get to taste some of their brews. Thanks!

I would personally avoid Endeavor and Four String, as I'm not a big fan of their beer. Knotty Pine normally only has 2 of their own taps and mostly guest drafts; food is good though.

Seventh Son is debuting their new roof top patio as of this afternoon too. It'll be busy as hell, but should be a really cool place for a beer.

Today would/would have been an epic day to go to Wolf's Ridge. Lots of crazy casks and infused kegs for LV426 Alien day.

I'll be touring CBUS Thursday 7/19 to Monday 7/23. I may have some NG Spotted Cow and NG Moon Man with me at all times
