Visiting Corona del Mar: Recommended Purchases

    Hello, everyone --

    My girlfriend is visiting her family in Corona del Mar for the Fourth, and she offered to bring beer back to Boston. She'll be going to the Whole Foods in Fashion Island this week, which I know from old threads and personal experience has a surprisingly-good selection.

    She doesn't know beer, unfortunately, and I don't know off-hand what tasty regional beer is readily-available there at the moment. I'd be grateful if the California BAs could advise. Off the top of my head, I've heard good things about Beechwood and Modern Times, and I remember this grocery store had Deschutes last time I visited (all not avail. in MA); would these be available? Anything else I should have her seek out?

    Beachwood and modern times are both excellent. I would also suggest belching beaver and noble as two pretty new and good socal breweries.

    Have her try Korker Liquor in CDM as well. They always have the Almanac sours available.
