Coming in from Charleston, Sc. I've searched the places on here, so I have a basic idea that I should visit The Bier Stein, Market of Choice, and Whole Foods for a decent Oregon bottle selection. Any other suggestions? Thanks
Bier Stein, 16 Tons, Oakshire, Falling Sky, Hop Valley, and depending on the day, drive out to Agrarian.
http://www.sweetlifedesserts.com/ You will thank me later... I have also heard that Level Up is pretty sweet.
What in particular are you looking for? Reino provided some good recommendations, but there are plenty of other good places to visit. In the last year, the number of growler station in town has mushroomed. Most such places will (typically) have upwards of 30 different craft options on tap, and while the focus is on growler sales, most places also sell beer by the glass if you want to hang out for a while. Some of the more obvious places in town include: Growler Guys Growler Nation Tap and Growler The Steel Pail GrowlerU That's in addition to the Bier Stein and 16 Tons (which also do growler sales). I would also add that there's a Rogue outpost in town as well, plus Eugene is the home of Ninkasi (it's worth checking out the new facility, even if you're not a fan of their beers). Have fun. (BTW. At least at this time, there are no Whole Food stores in Eugene).
Great, thanks for all the info. I'm looking for some good NW IPAs and DIPAs, as well as any good stouts. Do any of the OR breweries sell cans? They are easier to pack in luggage. Also, if anyone in the area would be interested in any stuff from my area, I'd gladly bring something along with me (within reason). Just shoot me a pm.
Oakshire does for sure (cans). Not sure about the other breweries you mentioned (I don't buy a lot of cans), but I guess you can find out when you get here. On the other hand, not sure if you get Ballast Point in SC now, but you'll be able to find Sculpin IPA in cans here now. Bier Stein, I believe, has a seperate "canned beer" section in their cold box now. Sounds like you might want to go check that out while you're here. :-)
Ought to be able to pick up Fort George cans. Cavatica Stout is very good. Their OPA is one of my favorite Pales ever.
If you see cans of the 3 way IPA, get it. It's a collab between Fort George, Block 15, and Boneyard, and is delicious.
