Hey all, I will be in Fort Collins for a few days after flying in to Denver. I would appreciate some recommendations for must-visit breweries or bottle shops. I'm really looking for your top 2 or 3 picks, since I won't have much free time or my own transportation. Cheers!
^ This. But for the sake of conversation: Since you don't have your own transportation, hit up the guys around Lincoln Ave. Odell, Funkwerks, Snowbank, Horse and Dragon. They're all within a mile of one another. Craft Beer Cellar for bottle shop.
Awesome, thanks. Having never been to Colorado, how is the public transportation? Is there Uber at least?
Transport is the bus system, $3.00 for a day pass or $1.25 per ride, if you have the chance I would say the best mode of brew-tours would be via bicycle. There are plenty of places to rent from in town: Bus: http://www.ridetransfort.com/ Bikes (ordered cheapest to expensive-you may want to look for the closest one to you, however): http://www.recycled-cycles.com/about/bicycle-rentals-pg60.htm http://peloton-cycles.com/about/rental-bikes-pg207.htm http://leescyclery.com/about/north-store-bike-rentals-pg837.htm http://www.newworldsportsllc.com/fort-collins-bike-rentals/
Uber is very easy in FC, but I agree with the post above that a bike is the way to go if the weather allows. If you don't have a hotel yet, try to stay at the Armstrong Hotel downtown. They let you check out a bike for free and you're right above Choice City and across the street from Tap & Handle for when you're not at a brewery but still want to drink great beers. Choice City also has great food.
FC's even small enough just to walk. For my wife's birthday we just made a 1-mile brewery crawl. You can always grab an Uber back home if you get sick of walking around. There are some outliers that are a bit further than others, but overall it's not a very big town.
