So I'm going to visit some friends in Grand Rapids next weekend (Nov 5-7). They used to live in downtown Grand Rapids but now live in one of the suburbs that I don't remember the name of. They are about 20 minutes from Founders. Question is, what are some good bottle shops I could hit while around downtown Grand Rapids? I only went to a couple last time I was there. Looking for mostly things I can't get in Indy, like Perrin, etc.

    Thanks for the help!

I would suggest Rishi's International Beverage and Siciliano's Market. They both have a pretty huge selection of Michigan beers. They're not right in downtown GR but about 10-15 minutes depending on which one you go to. Rishi's is a bigger store so the selection might be a little better but they both are great. Horrocks Market is a speciality grocery store that serves beer and also fills growlers. It's a little harder to get to. The growler selection is pretty good and the prices are reasonable.

I was on a business trip and stopped by Siciliano's. They had a solid selection & were pretty accommodating.

Brewery Vivant is worth a stop. So good, Skip Founders!

Martha's Vineyard is the only store that I can think of that is in the downtown area, but depending on where your friends live, I'd hit Siciliano's if they live west, Rishi's or GB Russo's if east/southeast, Forest Hills Foods if northeast, an I've got nothing if south or north.

i'd suggest Odd Sides beers to the haul back to Indy. GB Russo has always had a strong selection of Odd Side beers when I've visited. Siciliano's is great, but seems pretty picked over in the times I've visited. But if you're looking for single bottles, they are the place to hit up. Have fun; i love GR!

Which suburb your friends live in is really going to dictate the proper answer to your question... If they are south east of GR, I'll throw Paully's in Lowell into the conversation.

Art of the Table is a really decent bottle shop that is only about a mile or so from Founders - across 131, straight down Wealthy st. Right next to the Wealthy St. Bakery - a really great artisan bakery!

Siclianos is great. Rishi's has a lot of stuff, but expect to pay $1-2 more per item there.

Went to Vivant last time we were there. Definitely a cool place, the food was great too!

I asked my buddy, they live in Ada now, which is what, Southeast of Grand Rapids?

Here you go. If you're going to be around Ada, the closest shop is Rishi's. If you're staying in the downtown area, Martha's Vineyard is a good choice. Another downtown option might be Cherry Hill Market (a block or two from Vivant). I can't vouch for them personally, but they post a lot on Facebook that they've just received some limited release.

My thoughts exactly. I will definitely be making a stop just to drink that from the source.

I'd say that Ada is East/Northeast of GR. Forest Hills Food or Pauly's in Lowell are your best options that are close by.

Thanks everybody. To anyone that frequents Founders, is Backwoods still for sale in 4 packs? And how long does that typically last? I know they started last Friday/Saturday, so I assume by the time I get there this Friday, they'll be out. Any chance?
