I'm going to be in Greenville SC for two weeks for work so any recommendations of breweries, bars, or shops that would be worth checking out would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
There was another recent post about Greenville, so search for that a few pages down. Greenville Beer Exchange (drink-in bottleshop) downtown is my go-to when I'm passing by. They fill growlers and pretty much all bottles in the store are good to go for mix-n-match 6packs. It isn't a huge place, but they have a good selection. There's a Total Wine in Greenville (big retailer) that also fills growlers. There are a couple breweries around (Quest, Brewery 85, Thomas Creek), but Birds Fly South Ale Project makes the most interesting beer in that area. They're only open Thursday-Sunday, though.
MUST VISITS: Greenville Beer Exchange - bottleshop and on-premise The Community Tap - bottleshop, on-premise and food trucks Barley's - upstairs for beer, downstairs for pizza Birds Fly South - check hours, great brewery and taproom CONSIDER VISITING Swamp Rabbit Brewery - 15 or 20 mins outside of Greenville in Travelers Rest Quest - brewery and taproom Brewery 85 - brewery and taproom Green's and Total Wine are the big retailers in Greenville
I second taking the quick drive to Travelers Rest. Swamp Rabbit has food trucks and the tap room is cool. There's also a good pizza place called Sidewall with a small, but nice beer list.
I'm staying right in Greenville but working mostly in Travelers Rest so I should be able to hit up Swamp Rabbit.
Did a road trip to hit a few in Greenville the other day. Birds Fly South - nice venue, some very good IPAs, great and knowledgeable staff. No flights? Brewery 85 - Plastic cups Quest - WOW, this was the winner for this trip. Some very good beers including some unique ones that were excellent.
Would also advocate stopping in at the Beer Exchange - really nice staff and you can drink on-site (taplines / in store bottles) and Barley's - they have extensive local taps and the reserve beer list is nice and very fairly priced. Also take a look in the cooler as some of the bottles are not listed on the menu.
