The best place to drink is going to be the Flying Saucer in Sugarland. Not sure about bottle shops at all in that area. And get ready for the usual SW hissy fits being thrown by this question getting asked frequently.
I know you get tired of wishing people would use the search function (see visiting Dallas and Ft. Worth bottle shop posts all within the last week), but the search function isn't the Bible of that area. Magnolia is right outside of Houston, but Lone Pint isn't listed as a brewery in Houston under the places tab. Also, Whole Foods is listed as the top brewery. I'd much rather head to most of the other breweries. I'm up in the DFW area, so even though I'm familiar with Houston, I have no idea if a bar, restaurant, bottle shop is new on the scene doing great things. I guess what I'm saying is, it can't hurt to have a second opinion, and not just trust the search function if a place has 5 decent ratings, only one review, and nothing within the last 6 months.
That is not what people are asking. You can search this forum (not the bar/brewery/store search) for Houston and it has all of what you are asking for.
If posts like this bothers someone I don't understand why they don't simply skip them. I find that many people enjoy talking about the beer culture in their city.
Don't you think it would help everybody if all of the travel questions for cities were in a single thread? Makes finding info simple, all the answers are there, and we don't get the same repetitive questions with the same answers. There is a search function for a reason, if a thread doesn't answer it, then start one asking it. But, just asking for breweries/bottle shops/bars in Houston has been asked many times and all the answers are there already.
Then simply resist commenting, you don't have to comment on every thread. Some people will do homework, others will ask, often times it's easier, or something new might have opened in the area. It can get old, but no harm.
bros if we didn't have houston/dallas/austin recs thread pop up every other day or so the front page of this forum would span 90 days.
The Galleria Whole Foods, which has its own brewery inside it, is actually very good. The space is great, the house beers are solid, the guest taps are usually excellent and you have a wide variety of foods to choose from. They also have an enormous bottle selection. It's a bit of a hike from Stafford, but I think it's a good spot.
The Spec's in Richmond at 762 and 59 is above average. There is a Whole Foods in Sugarland that is ok. But if you want to see everything, head to Spec's on Smith Street in Midtown. About a 30 minute drive with no traffic. Then hit D&Q Beer Station which is about 5 minutes away from that. Enjoy your stay, we really are not a bunch of pretentious asshats, so enjoy Houston. I would be rude if I didn't suggest heading over to Torchy's Taco's just outside of Stafford. Grab a seat at the bar, enjoy whatever is fresh on tap and order a Trashy Trailer Park taco. Peace.
