Hi, I'll be in Chicago for a convention in July. I'll probably be staying at the Hyatt Regency McCormick because it's near the convention. I won't have a car so I was wondering if there are any decent bottle shops or restaurant/bars nearby worth checking out. I'm looking mainly for the local and or regional beers that can't be found out west. One option I thought would be to stop at Binny's on the cab ride from the airport to the hotel. Thanks for any suggestions!

Binny's is always a good start. I think the South Loop one won't be too far from you, and it's one of the bigger ones in the city, so it's a good choice. Both the South Loop and Lincoln Park Binny's have tap rooms as well, and their taplists are great.

If you're able to, I'd highly recommend taking a cab over to West Lakeview Liquors and/or The Beer Temple. Two of the best beer shops in the city, and probably the country. Nice, knowledgeable staff, and each has a great selection of beers.

In terms of bars around McCormick, I'll have to defer to others more familiar with that area; I know some places you can check out on the North Side (closer to the shops I mentioned), but I don't hang out much where you'll be.

Hope you enjoy your stay; July is one of the best months to come to Chicago!

I second The Beer Temple. Best place in the city.
