I am visiting KC for the weekend and am looking for some good bottleshops / pointers on what bottles / beers I might be able to find in the city. I've done some searching on the forum and found some highly rated bottleshops, but am a little curious as to what bottles I may find here. Will I be able to stumble across any of the following: evil twin, perennial, crooked stave, 4hands? Thanks in advance for the advice.
KC gets all those you mention but don't expect anything super rare I suggest checking out craftbeerkc.com
I would highly recommend getting some tall grass beers. Buffalo sweat is a very good milk stout and 8 bit is a good pale ale.
2nd Shift Katy. Brett, oak. That beer is amazing. Urban Chestnut stuff is good if you like German styles.
I believe Buffalo Sweat is Oatmeal stout but yes, pretty tasty. Their Ethos IPA is excellent as well and Halcyon Wheat a fine beer for warm days!
It says it's an oatmeal stout on the can, but it is listed as a milk stout here and honestly I think it's much closer to a milk stout than an oatmeal stout flavor wise.
After a little research, it appears it meets the criteria for both oatmeal and milk stout, either way good stuff. The vanilla version is also tasty
McCoy's is a really solid brew pup. It's in the Westport area. They had a great Berliner Weisse when I was down for the Big 12 tournament.
Check out the current reviews & they'll steer you in the right direction. KC has a pretty good beer scene, but it is kind of spread out.
