I'll be staying in Louisville near the Louisville Slugger Field for the first week of November. I' m not going to have a car so advice on how to get around if something is not walking distance would be helpful too.

Any advice on really good places to eat with great beer/bourbon lists? Also looking for some idea of what beers to look for. I'm coming from Los Angeles so I'd like to focus on the regional stuff. I'll be eating lunch and dinner out but no beer at lunch.

    Thanks

Against the Grain is inside the ballpark, and they have a full bar with great bourbon and killer food. You can walk to Louisville Beer Store as well.

And it's worth it to get an Uber to visit The Holy Grale for dinner.

Against the Grain has good food, but i have had a couple bad experiences with the service and beer.

The Holy Grale is a must stop, also Mellow Mushroom is across the street and has a great selection of beer.

Crescent Hill Craft House on Frankfort Ave (near downtown) is a great spot for food/beer..... they have 40 taps with nothing but local beer. Also, Great Flood is a newish tap-room with 8 of their own beers and 8 guest taps that is definitely worth checking out. Also fully agree with/recommend Against the Grain, Holy Grale, and the Mellow Mushroom across from Holy Grale.

Close to you, if I had some time to barhop a bit, you've got Garage Bar, Against the Grain, Haymarket, and Louisville Beer Store all pretty close to each other, and Sidebar a chip shot away by the Yum Center, and all have a great beer/bourbon list, and Garage Bar and Sidebar have awesome food. As an east-ender, I always enjoy being at large downtown without a car with time to kill.

Thanks everyone it looks like I'll be able to hit most of what you all mentioned. I guess I should have put in for the Bo & Luke presale yesterday too but didn't catch it until reviewing the sites today.

A coworker wants to eat at Milkwood (we both watch Mind of a Chef). The beer list isn't great but how's the food? Worth the price?

Unless you were going to be in Louisville on Oct. 24 (you said Nov.), not buying the presale ticket saved you $5.

One of my friends cooks there. He spent $400 on himself for his birthday meal and said it was the best he'd ever had

Enjoying my time in Louisville so far. Must say that that downtown is strangely empty at night, almost uncomfortably so.

Probably heading out to Holy Grale tomorrow or Thursday. Is the choir loft anything special or should we just go for the regular section?

Trying to make it AtG and Sergios on the day opposite Holy Grale. So far I've had some great food and a nice tour of the UPS facility that did not include in beer.

Yeah, election Tuesday isn't going to be a big night downtown, and the kids were out of school yesterday and today, so it probably kept some folks from heading in for work. Should ramp up as the week goes on, especially if there's a basketball game down there. Also depends on where you're staying. Main Street around the Galt House and KCA and near the arena are usually pretty lively even during the week, and NuLu stays pretty busy (also gives you an opportunity to hit up Louisville Beer Store).

The choir loft is definitely worth taking a look at. It doesn't take any extra money or effort, really; just walk up the stairs and see what's on tap. It's not always open during the week, but if they are, they'll have a different tap list than the downstairs bar, and even if it's not open, it's a cool little area.

If you go to The New Vintage- may be able to find some of last weeks BCBS variants still on.

Alright visited Holy Grale tonight and everyone was right that place is awesome. The beer selection was top notch with enough unique brews to keep me entertained and the food was delicious. We made it up to the choir loft with a party that expanded to seven. Lots of sharing of food and drinks. We may have tasted the whole menu but the shiitake sliders were my favorite. The To Ol Sur Citra smelled and tasted great, the De La Senne was a bit bitter and the Petrus Pale was right on the money. Tasted a couple of others as well that were real good.

We will probably make it down to Garage Bar tomorrow and maybe try to stop at AtG or Haymarket on the way back or before it that makes any sense. I actually ended up staying at the embassy suites.

Had a nice dinner at Milkwood last night and opted for a bourbon cocktail but the taplist was well curated for its size and their prices for beer, cocktails and food (by Los Angeles standards) were extremely reasonable.

I would suggest AtG over Haymarket. Outside of their beer, AtG also has a great whiskey selection and makes the best bloody mary in town (if that's your thing).

Are the cans of Citra Ass Down still available at any of the shops in town? I'm going to be down there on Friday and am looking to bring some cans back with me.

There's probably still some cans out there, but I believe they shut down Citra production for the season in August, so they're not gonna be super fresh

Haven't seen any cans recently around town of citra. Last batch that went out was early October. Still tons of very old bombers of citra sitting around though
