I'm traveling from FL to Ashland/Medford Oregon on May 6-20th to visit family. I'll also be in Bend. Any suggestions as to which bottle shops I should stop at? Also, for trading, I could bring some Cigar City Brewing beers because they are cans and can travel well. I believe White Oak Jai Alai (One of my favorite IPAs ever) will be hitting the market right before I leave so I could snatch some. Would anyone want to trade? Looking for any Russian River Sours/Pliny, or rarities from Deschutes or anything else good.

Also, how do bottles travel on flights? Is it too risky?

I've brought back bottles from England and I've brought back bottles from California. Pack 'em well and you'll have no problems.

Try a forum search for both Medford and Bend, as there have been several recent threads covering your question. In terms of good bottle shops, I think what you'll find in Bend will be superior to pretty much anything you can find in Medford or Ashland. So I would hold off getting any bottles until you get up there.

Not sure what your travel itinerary is, but assuming you could drive up to Bend by way of Eugene, then do your shopping at the Bier Stein. Outside of Belmont Station and John's Marketplace in Portland, I don't believe there is a better bottle shop in Oregon, in terms of selection (and yes, that includes BeerMongers, IMHO). It's no more than a 5 minute detour off of I-5 (if you're driving north from Medford), so it shouldn't delay you unduly on your way up to Bend.

    Good luck.

Thanks everyone. So I think I'll definitely be bringing some Cigar City Jai Alai, White Oak Jai Alai, and perhaps a bottle of Marshal Zhukovs Imperial Stout and Humidor series IPA with me if anyone is interested just PM me.
