Driving up to a town 30 or 45 minutes away from Detroit for Thanksgiving to see family... I'm from NJ. Definitely want to stock up a bit at a liquor store so my question to you Great Lakes folk is: What are some great beers I can get in Michigan that I won't be able to find in NJ? Thanks in advance for the responses.
what city are you going to? I could direct you to a store that would have a much better selection that a liquor store. Some liquor store inventory is old and dusty, not bad if you want some aged belgians or souts, not so much for IPA's...
Depending on where you are going. Short's, Wolverine, Odd Side and Greenbush right off the top of my head.
Add Brewery Vivant to the list if you like Belgian-inspired beers. Plus, I don't think New Jersey gets Arcadia, and if you like BBA beers, then Arcadia's Shipwreck Porter is on store shelves now. I'll also add that as you're passing thru Ohio, you should stop and pick up some Fat Head's Headhunter IPA. You can't beat that stuff.
We get Arcadia but for some reason only ever seen their IPAs and their Jaw Jacker. Thanks for the recommendation!
F Farmington Hills is not small, it's quite a cluster during rush hour(s) so good luck. That being said you could check out these places that are relatively close, I'm sure people from the area could chime in with different places (I'm from the east side), but these are what I know Busch's Market off of Drake, grocery store, but they have a great selection and will let you grab most beer singles. Good Time Party store off of 7 mile (Northville) they have a great selection as well and will let you grab singles. If you have time check out Uptown Grill, closeish to Farmington Hills, further east you have Kuhnhenn, One Eyed Betty's, Griffin Claw, Clubhouse BFD and many other places in between. If you head east you can check out these bottle shops: Champane's (right near Kuhnhenn), 8 Degrees Plato (down the street from One Eye'd Betty's)
