I am heading to Ommegang in a few weeks, and was wondering if there is anything else I need to visit while in the area(bottle shops, other breweries, bars, etc.)

Ommegang is in the middle of nowhere basically. But if you head into town there is Cooperstown Brewery (never been) and of course the Hall of Fame.

They have what's called the Cooperstown Beverage Trail which includes breweries and wineries in the area. http://www.cooperstownbeveragetrail.com/

I've been to Cooperstown many times to visit Ommegang. It is a wonderful town with a surprising amount of great things to do. As far as other breweries, I have been to Council Rock and Butternuts.

I also recommend the Fenimore Cooper Museum and, if it isn't too cold, hiking in Glimmerglass State Park.

There are also some good places to eat - Alex & Ika is very good, as is Origins Cafe, which is near Ommegang. Also, the food is excellent at Ommegang.

Also, you should try to stop by Spurbeck's Grocery and get some of their aged cheddar. Other than Cabot Clothbound from Jasper Hill, it is the best cheddar I have ever had.

And, of course, the Baseball Hall of Fame is not to be missed, even if you aren't a baseball fan.

    Have fun!

Stop by Fly Creek Cider Mill. Fill up on feel samples.

Only bottle shop in the area I found was Spurbecks which didn't have anything out of the ordinary. Check out Cooperstown Distillery in town. Not too bad.

Brook's House of BBQ, which is exit 16 off of 88, or just down Rt. 7 a bit towards Oneonta.
