+1 on Glory Beer Bar and Kitchen, been there a couple times with a buddy and been impressed with their beer lists both times. first time I went they had a bunch of tired hands on tap and last time I went they had some Lawson's, fifty fifty eclipse, and other Tired hands stuff like Alien CHurch and others too.

If you’re by yourself, I’d be surprised if you cannot grab a seat at the bar at Zahav.

Thanks for the feedback. I've re worked a couple things based on suggestions. Glory seems like a new gem for sure.

Does Monk's get really busy every day? I'm trying to swing by on a Monday night.

By yourself, you'll be fine whenever you go. In addition to the bar in front when you walk in, there is a bar way in the back that is usually less crowded.

Thanks for all the feedback folks. As for bottle shops, is there a must visit spot? I'm gonna be staying in Fishtown if that makes a difference.

It can, and often does. But, they are open at lunch time and usually pretty empty. Great spot to hit early afternoon.

coming to Philly for a conference this month, so thanks to everyone for this very informative list of suggestions -- I'm staying near the convention center and was curious about good bottle shops in the area (not opposed to taking a short walk , even up to a mile or so, or an uber) where I can get some unique offerings, such a BA stouts

    Cheers!

Strangelove's (11th and Walnut) used to sell bottles to go that are generally pretty hard to find, but there is no mention of that on their website any more.

agreed (bainbridge). Their service is horrendous.
    .
since you're staying in fishtown, hit up Pizzeria Beddia 2 (1313 N. Lee St), look for the green✌️sign. Pizza's are awesome and they have an awesome wine list.

I second Fountain Porter, tired hands, forest n main, skip evil genius. zahav, doors open at 5:00pm but if you get there around 415-430, you can wait for a spot at the bar.

Since the new owners took over, both the quality of the food and the taplist at Strangeloves has gone downhill, imo.

If you're willing to travel south, Bella Vista Beverage has an overwhelming amount of good beer. I always end up buying way too much when I stop in there.

Oh, I didn't realize it was no longer a Brendan/Leigh joint. That's too bad.

I'll be in Philly Saturday for the first time in 15 or so years. Since it will be a nice day, are there any suggestions on a place to grab a beer with outdoor seating? Something with an okay taplist would be fine.

Sounds to me like you would like to visit one of Philly’s many beer gardens:

If you enjoy German style beers I would highly recommend Frankford Hall to you.

    Cheers!

Lots of great bars and beer gardens. If you're looking for a brewery with outdoor seating, we have a map that you can filter to show which have outdoor seating (just need to create a free account to get the filters). https://www.pabrewreview.com/BreweryMap

Evil Genius has a really cool outdoor spot (though they don't open until 2 today...make sure to use the "Open Now" filter if you use the map so you don't head somewhere that's not open yet)
