So for various reasons I'll be in Pittsburgh this weekend (Saturday afternoon thru Sunday), and I had been very excited to visit Brew Gentlemen, Dancing Gnome, Voodoo and some others while in town, but the on-site alcohol consumption regulations have really burst my bubble. I was hoping some of you fine folks have some other recommendations? Maybe somewhere just outside the county that would be worth a trip? Or perhaps a good bottle shop that will allow me to grab some singles of local stuff to at least try it in my hotel room? (Not really trying to get a bunch of full 4pks from the breweries, I have mountains of beer at home already from my own locals and all the trading I've done while stuck at home with nothing better to do.) I know I can't order a beer, but maybe I can at least salvage SOME fun out of the weekend if you have some good restaurant recommendations for a first-timer as well?

Thanks all for the last minute help. I had been keeping my fingers crossed that the covid numbers would go down enough to re-open places by this weekend, but alas, no luck.

I would skim through this thread, lots of good info...just keep in mind because of covid who knows.

Most of the breweries are doing curbside, but it sounds like you aren't interested in picking up 4 packs etc.
I always have pretty good luck grabbing singles at the Giant Eagle Market District at 7000 Oxford Dr, Bethel Park, PA 15102.
I also like West End Bottle Shop.
Fat Heads usually has a nice tap list.
Same with Industry Public House and Caliente Pizza. I just don't know if you are allowed to go in and all that? Maybe someone else can chime in.
Do you use Untappd? If not download it and when you get to your hotel choose the Local Venues. It will probably give you quite a few selections to check out.
Also, don't sleep on Hitchhiker Brewing. That and Grist House are my tops up there.

You can grab singles of a couple local places here -> http://www.independentpgh.com/

Brew Gentlemen’s flagship IPA is only 10 bucks a 4 pack and they have a ton of to-go single crowler options and it’s super easy using their site to order. As mentioned above check out that thread and agree, Grist and Hitch are great options.

Your best options are probably to go cans at DG, BG, and Grist.

I'd add that Four Points (about 45 minutes away) has been releasing their beers at stores. They released a good second anniversary triple last week and released a sour this week. They're available at the Market District Giant Eagle in Shadyside.

As far as drinking at a location, options are limited. Independent Brewing is a good suggestion. That's usually what I recommend for people who want BG and DG but I'm not sure what they're currently carrying on draft and I think you need reservations. I'd call them. As far as brewpubs go, Inner Groove in Verona is open to drink there and their stuff has been getting good reviews.

    Have fun!
