Hey guys I will be visiting Pleasonton for business on May 18-20th and was hoping to get some great California beers. I will be coming from Indiana so looking to get some great beers to bring back. Any places I should check out? Would I have any luck finding any Russian River, Deschutes, The Bruery?
Drive over the overpass into Dublin and visit us. We'll take care of you. http://capsandtapsdublin.com
Workingman and Eight Bridges Breweries are in Livermore which is right next to Pleasanton. I have had good experiences at both of those places. Friends of mine have told me good things about Altamont Beer Works which is also in Livermore.
If you're looking to drink good beer then some of the good places have been mentioned. Add Handles Gastropub to the list of places in Pleasanton. It's across the street from a crappy brewpub called Main Street as well if you want some ticks. It sounds like you're not so much looking to experience the local scene though and more are just looking to take some sought after bottles home. If that's the case then go under the freeway and another block past the Taps and Caps place mentioned is a little corner liquor store called C Mini Mart that has all the beers that you're looking for. Another block further is a homebrew store too but I doubt you'd be interested in that. Also no one has mentioned Perry's. Yeah, they no longer carry Russian River but from what I hear they still have a lot of good stuff. There's a Bevmo right off the freeway as well in Pleasanton. It's in the same shopping center as an In n Out if you need to experience that still. Bevmo, C Mini Mart, and Caps and Taps are all within a half mile of the freeway. As for local breweries, Working Man is just alright, haven't been to Eight Bridges but I need to soon (turns out it's run by someone that I knew in college), and Altamont is legit. Some people have been calling Handles a brewpub but I know that their beers are made at Firestone and judging by the fact that the beers are the same ones that get rebranded all the time (pale, IPA, hefe, etc) I'm highly skeptical. Also, Hopyard supposedly brews a beer or two at one of their two locations but I'm equally skeptical. Need to get there and see for myself if they are actually brewing anything.
I can't open up that link...is it anywhere near La Quinta Hotel on Dublin Blvd.? I'm staying there tonight and tomorrow night and would love to be able to walk to a place like that!!
We are a short walk from La Quinta. Just pass Dougherty rd, and we're on the right side in the middle of Tralee village. Open 4-10 today
Thanks everyone. Will try and get to Caps and Taps tomorrow as well as check out some of the local Breweries. No luck finding Pliny though. Even went to the brewery yesterday and they were out.
I went to Caps And Taps two weeks ago while I was in town on business...two nights in a row! Great tap selection at good prices, especially if you REALLY love IPA's. Only one stout at the time, which is not a problem when it is Speedway. Hopefully, you'll be there for the six o'clock dogfights! (Very humane dogfights, of course.)
