Fuji to Hood is an amazing event that I would like to attend at some point. They get great Japanese breweries to take part and do a collab with an Oregon brewery. I bought a bottle of the Far Yeast/Culmination sour beer last time I was in Japan. This year Fujizakura Heights, who are known for traditional German style beers, is doing a collab with Upright. Should be an awesome lager beer of some sort.

Going to a show tonight at Keller Auditorium. Any recommendations for a taproom with good food nearby that would be a nice spot to have dinner and a beer beforehand?

I have taken so many recommendations from this thread on my PDX visits, thanks to all the BAs that have contributed!

    Cheers!

Hadestown? Saw that in Seattle over the weekend and it was amazing. You could probably just hit something across the river in SE Portland and be good.

Treebeerd’s is a good taproom. No food, but there are some restaurants across the way to get to go and bring in. I’d recommend Luc Lac.

Library Taphouse is nearby. They also have food but I've never eaten there. Beer O'Clock is a little farther away. They don't do food but you can order from their next door sister restaurants.

And no more Pac-12 ????!!!!!! Maybe UO will join my alma mater PSU in the Big Sky. When I attended PSC/U the footvball team was getting beat up by Big Sky opponents, but as independents. PSC/U did have a first class wrestling team then.

So, Hadestown was created by Anais Mitchell. She had played a small bar I used to work at (The Green Frog, R.I.P.) afew times, then didn't tour again for a bit. She was creating Hadestown the album, which she sent to us, and we played the hell out of. the next time she came through, a local friend/musician of hers put together a band of local performers, and did the whole album live. It was amazing.

All in a bar with a sub 70 person capacity, a 7x7 square foot stage.

Yes, Hadestown! Agreed, it was/is fantastic. I am glad a read a quick synopsis before going, it saved me a few times when I missed the lyrics.

Not the closest place, but based on where we were at the time, we ended up at Von Ebert...Which I thought was great. Able to grab Happy Hour pizza a couple of beers, Sector 7 and Pils, which I really enjoyed.

The QR code ordering is a great option, especially when you have a event to get to.

Terry, that's a good story. I've been a Hadestown fan for quite a few years. Anais Mitchell worked the hell out of this project, so I heard versions of the music online before the album ever came out. It's fun to see Hadestown hit the big time, kind of like seeing some young kid with hoop chops finally make the NBA or the WNBA. That's happened to me several times, Jamal Crawford and Courtney Vandersloot being my favorite all time examples.

Just got to Portland yesterday, and welcomed by Logsdon having moved to the city and selling a pair of 2019 and 2022 Peche ‘n Brett, one of my top faves, for the basically the price of one bottle back home!

I think there was already a post about Living Haus being open (and operating out of the former Modern Times/The Commons space), but the other brewery operating out of that space, Hetty Alice, has put out some of their first beers. I had the west coast IPA and the fresh hop IPA last weekend (WCIPA at Belmont Station and FH IPA at APEX), and both were quite good. Looking forward to more from them.

Drinking the Hetty Alice Super Fresh! right now. Almost abbreviated it to HA, but Heater Allen got that acronym first and we don’t want another Barley Browns/Bale Breaker fiasco on our hands…

I think I said it here before, but in the Living Haus taproom you can order from Afuri using provided QR codes and they will deliver to you to the bar inside Living Haus. I was sad to love an amazing vegan kitchen with MT going away but... Afuri with no line and good beers? Excellent setup there!

    Hey All,

I'm flying into Portland next Friday and flying back to LA the following Monday for a long weekend beercation. Planning to hit up Loyal Legion on Friday night then Saturday I plan to hit Steeplejack, Upright, Von Ebert, and Breakside. Sunday I plan to do Ruse, Gigantic and Baerlic. I've been to Wayfinder and Great Notion in the past so I feel like I can skip those on this trip but are there any places under the radar that I shouldn't miss or should swap out for one of my stops?

Also any food and coffee recommendations are highly appreciated. My Airbnb is a couple blocks over from the OG Stumptown location so it seems like there are a bunch of great options on Division. Matt's BBQ Tacos will probably be a breakfast stop before I start day drinking.

    Thanks in advance!

Overall, that's a fine list. I'd replace Steeplejack with Ex Novo. If you're at Upright you're already in the neighborhood.

I also recommend a stop at Chuckanut. It's a block away from Baerlic, and they make some of the best lagers in the country.

Other places which deserve a mention, and maybe a place in the mix, include Away Days (English/European styles), ForeLand (good IPAs, lagers, and English styles), and Grains of Wrath (IPAs).

Second vote here for Steeplejack. A very cool building and some of the best food we had in PDX over the summer.
