Thanks to the OP. This information was very useful during my recent trip to PDX.

Nicely done. I'll be rolling through Portland in July and I definitely will make use of this info.

Awesome Portland thread. As someone who will be visiting Portland for the first time 08/30-09/02 I found this to be extremely helpful. Thank you.

Let me echo this, as well. I will be visiting on July 6th - 9th. Any special tappings or events to look out for next week? Also, where is the best place to buy some bottle shippers near the downtown area?

Puckerfest starts on 7/11. The website is being updated with beer lists as I write this, but here's our guest line up for the first 3 nights:

Friday, July 11 -- Cascade (w/an exclusive blend for Puckerfest!)
    Saturday, July 12 -- Block 15 & De Garde
Monday, July 14 -- The Commons & Breakside

I'm finalizing my plans for this weekend. My wife and I are renting bikes and pub crawling. I had Amnesia Brewing on my route for one day and I'm hearing that it has closed. Is this correct?

Also, what is up with the temps for this weekend? We were expecting moderate weather!!

Amnesia is closed. Stormbreaker Brewing is in that location now.

Is Stormbreaker Brewing worth a stop?

It's not too bad. It only really gets hot for a few hours in the afternoon, the humidity is generally fairly low, and even on 90+ days the temp usually falls back into the mid-high 70's within a couple hours of the sun going down. It's much more pleasant than the Midwest where you feel hot, sweaty, and uncomfortable all night long because the humidity is over 90%.

I greatly prefer Stormbreaker to Amnesia. Better beer, much better atmosphere (even though they only changed a few things), and a real menu with good food. And there's a Doner Kebab cart across the street!!!

Since you had already earmarked them, you should know that Amnesia didn't disappear; they moved across the border to Washougal, WA.

We're arriving in Portland about 5 PM today. We're going to head downtown tonight. The plan was just to go to Pints! and Deschutes but I'm open to suggestions, especially on a place to eat. Nothing fancy, good pub food. Thanks.

We're riding bikes. Across the border is out of our range as we're old and fat.

Deschutes has good food, so I would eat there. But, as said above, go to Bailey's for a great taplist and spot to drink. Best beer bar on that side of the river, and one of the best in the city.

You could also go to Baileys and order Mexican food from Santeria next door and eat it at Baileys. Or after some beers at Deschutes grab some Mexican from Los Gorditos and take it with you and eat at Baileys.

    cheers
