I'll be visiting Portland 10/10 through 10/16, any events or releases I should be aware of?

Also, I'm 100% planning on hitting Great Notion at the very least, seems from Yelp this place can get super busy, is there a best time to visit, I'm assuming definitely a weekday.

Planning on at the least visiting Cascade and Great Notion, if you were to pick one of Upright, Breakside, Hair of the Dog or perhaps some other option, whether that be a brewery, brewpub or cool beer bar, what would you suggest?

I'll drink almost anything, and I'm not super familiar with other breweries in Portland outside of Great Notion, Cascade, and Deschutes. Probably tough question to answer, but thought I'd ask.

It's still fresh hop season so I'd recommend drinking all the fresh hop beers you can. You don't exactly need a special event to do that, but there might still be some fresh hop festivals going on while you're here.

Weekday before 5 and you'll be fine.

All 3 are good options, just depends on what style of beer you like best. Wayfinder is also doing some great lagers and is located near Hair of the Dog so you might add them to your list as another option. All the beer bars on page 1 are great, just pick the one that has the tap list you like best that week.

Once again, I'm late with a seasonal update. I have a legit excuse this time, I swear!

Anyway, I haven't been in Portland (except at the airport) much in the past couple of months, so I'm soliciting input for additions/subtractions to the fall/winter update.

I know all the places listed as "opening soon" in the Newcomers section have opened, as well as the opening of Ruse Brewing. Can anyone confirm that Bazi has fully transitioned to the Thirsty Monk? I haven't been by to verify (nor have I bothered to google).

I'm not aware of any other major (or minor, even) brewery/brewpub or bottle shop openings in the past few months, but feel free to point them out if I'm missing something worth listing.

And please remember, this thread is limited ONLY to places within the Portland city limits. Thanks in advance!

Bazi is now officially the Thirsty Monk. I think the brewery is still in the planning stage. Last I heard all their beers were coming from Denver.

The only new brewery I can think that wasn't shown on your last update is Look Long Brewing.

West Coast Grocery is open and brewing beer. I think they recently just filled out their entire draft system so they don't have guest taps anymore.

The second Von Ebert location opened.

    Backwoods opened in the Pearl.

Lompoc on 23rd closed, only the Williams Ave locations and Oaks Bottom remain.

    Little Beast is open.

Ross Island has officially relaunched as Dirty Pretty

Yeah, I've been there and it's very cool. Unfortunately, not too much in the way of exciting beers.

Forgot about the Backwoods location opening. Thanks for the reminder.

Little Beast's spot is awesome. So much nicer than when it was Lompoc Hedge House (even though I really liked it then as well). Beers are way better too.

Is Dirty Pretty in the same spot Ross Island was in?

I really like Little Beat in that spot too. Dirty Pretty is in the same location as Ross Island but I can't figure out if they have a tasting room or not. I'm guessing they do not yet.

It looks like Dirty Pretty doesn't have any plans to re-open the old Ross Island tasting room. I guess the brewery is only a production brewery for all the ChefStable owned locations in Portland and occasionally on draft at some beer bars.

I'm wondering if Russian River Pliny/BP can be found around town? Bottles? Draft?
Also curious how easily Pfriem Pils is found in bottles or draft?
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere. I tried looking but didn't see anything. Cheers!

They stopped sending bottles up here several years ago, but draft of PTE and BP is relatively easy to find around town. Horse Brass always has one or the other on tap, and it's worth checking tap lists at Apex, Belmont Station, Saraveza, Beermongers, and the other top beer bars in the city.

pFriem Pils bottles should be widely available at those same bottle shops. As for draft, your best bet is to check Uptappd for recent check ins, although I drank some at Belmont Inn last weekend, so that's a decent place to start.

Pliny or BP always on at Horse Brass. frequently on at other spots (apex, etc). pliny bottles are mostly nonexistent at this point, i think. I've never had a problem finding pfriem pils bottles.

Really, you should have no difficulty finding pfriem pils on tap around town. A lot of restaurants that only have two or three craft offerings on tap, will have the pFriem pils as one of their offerings.

If you happen to stop by the Growler Guys on SE 8th during your stay, often as not they'll have it on tap, but even if they don't, Sparky's pizza next door always has it on tap as one of their draft offerings.

Chris' comment about PtE is dead on. I assume the latest shipment just came into town, as a lot places seem to have Pliny on tap right now. In fact, it's even on tap at the John's Marketplace deli counter bar right now.

Consider downloading the DigitalPour app (free). Anyone who uses the digital pour tap system, their draft lineup will be live updated in the app. A decent number of places in Portland use it. For example, I see that Henry's has the pFreim Pils on tap right now.

I'll have to check it out again, that app was borderline unusable when I tried it a while back.

Brewnotice is the best/worst thing. I'm pretty sure I told it not to send me emails, but it sends me emails every day of the new stuff on tap and I can't bring myself to unsubscribe from them.

I really enjoyed Reach Break, which is about a block away from Fort George in Astoria. They had an excellent NE IPA and the other stuff on tap was solid as well.
