Shoot me a beermail when you come into town. Can't make any guarantees or promises, but the ways things are looking at the moment, I should have some shippers I can let you have when you get into town.

I was there a couple weeks ago and they didn't have crowlers at all, all week. Luckily they had a random can release with Block 15 on Friday, But I was told by our waitress that they only release limited crowlers of things when they feel like it or when something new goes on tap. I think there is no set schedule anymore and it's very rare.

I am planning a last minute trip into Portland this week-end. I could be potentially finding a job in Portland and moving back. Fingers crossed...

This is a great planning tool thanks!

I think I have a game plan. I will head to De Garde this Thursday along with lunch at the Pelican.

Friday I am not too sure. I will be free starting around 3pm on Friday, likely will stay downtown.

Saturday I am open and so far based on you all I am hitting Great Notions, Ex Novo and then Apex.

I am wondering about the new places. I see some on the list, I see Vancouver and the suburbs mentioned (curious about options there). Any feedback is appreciated.

I will be shipping some bottles back to MI, so if you have a good Fed Ex location that doesn't ask questions that would be appreciated.

I am riding solo as well, so anyone who would like to come out and say hi let me know. I can also bring some MI beer if you are looking for anything.

    Cheers!

I don't have much to add on the beer front but be forewarned, this is the weekend before the eclipse on Monday. If you don't already have a car lined up it's either going to be not possible, very annoying, very lucky, or very expensive to get one. There's going to be an extra million people in Oregon, that's 1/4th of the population of the state. If it were me I'd try to keep driving around to the minimum.

Agree completely with the points @Strangestbrewer just made.

But don't worry, @kgncfl - If you wind up being unable to snag a rental car, and you have to stay in Portland, you can cover an amazing amount of ground with public transit. Better yet: Rent a bike.

The only place I might recommend in the burbs is Arch Bridge, and that's because of their de Garde connection. They often have dG stuff on tap I see no place else, and they also typically have the best dG bottle selection in the PDX area. So if that's something that interests you, then I would say go there. Otherwise, there's really nothing there (or any place else for that matter) that is going to be superior to what you can find in PDX.

If you do decide to go to AB, then that would be a good place to do your fedex shipping as well. The West Linn fedex store is just up the road (maybe a half mile or so), is small, and the employees there rarely ask any sort of questions (other than what sort of credit card you want to use).

Have fun (and as Strangest Brewer suggested, try not drive any more than you absolutely have to this weekend).

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Will take more if you have it.

So you all are right that cars aren't going to be rented. I guess that takes out my De Garde trip.

Saturday my game plan is as follows:

Great Notion (with a side trip to Pine Street Biscuits)
    Ex Novo
    Scout Beer
    Apex

I'm now a little more open on Thursday, probably work the Pearl district a little harder then originally intended.

    Cheers!

Ya might try a posting on Craiglist. There might be somebody willing to take a day trip out to the coast. Plus, as @John_M mentions above, hit up Arch Bridge.

There's also a Pine State Biscuits a block away from Apex, just in case you need extra options/flexibility in your travels.

How did Scout end up on your radar? They certainly look like the outlier on your list. I tried them earlier this year and wanted to like them, but did not particularly enjoy their combination of "We're still getting our brew system dialed in" and "Hey, let's use weird ingredients like breakfast cereal!"

I do hope they are brewing better beer these days.

I wouldn't necessarily call this list "dated," since it's from last month, but I do find some of their choices and omissions puzzling, to say the least.

However, I agree that it's a useful collection of information. Especially if you cross-reference it with the list at the beginning of this thread, which is a MUCH better indicator of the Portland breweries that really deserve a visit.

Scout is listed on the first post of this page. I looked at their offerings and it looked interesting. Plus it fits in the agenda as well. Thanks for the feedback. I figure if they don't work out that means more for me at Apex.

I love me some Pine State Biscuits. There will be a Reggie. I used to work with one of the owners. That was his side gig while he did apparel production for my last company.

Right on. I hope you'll come back here and write a quick post to let us know how you enjoyed your trip, and maybe a rundown of the beers you thought were particularly good or bad.

Will do. Stormbreaker also looks interesting. I have to build a west side itinerary for Friday night now that I won't be heading to De Garde

    Interesting developments at PDX: https://pdx.eater.com/2017/8/11/16135570/pdx-airport-breweries-new-hopworks-Deschutes

Deschutes will be replacing Rogue in their concourse D location, and Hopworks will replace Laurelwood in concourse E. Laurelwood will keep its location in councourse A.

Can't say I'm sad to see Rogue go. I'll miss that Laurelwood location, but I'm sure HUB will fill in admirably. I'm also glad Laurelwood isn't completely leaving the airport, though I'm very rarely in concourse A (and that is definitely the lesser of the two Laurelwood locations at PDX as far as space and atmosphere goes).

Ecliptic is just down the street from Stormbreaker, and they have really good food.

In that case your liver is definitely not going to want me to mention that you could walk from Ecliptic to Stormbreaker to Tin Bucket (one of the best beer bars/bottle shops in the city) to Lompoc 5th Quadrant to Lompoc Sidebar to Hopworks Bike Bar by covering a distance less than a mile.

    Welcome to Portland!

Was about to post an ISO double stack trade but reading above it looks like great notion doesnt just fill growlers as standard for beers on tap. Is this the case? And if so when was the last time they did crowlers of double stack?

I need that maple stoutness in my belly!

The search function is your friend.

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/great-notion.378684/

The information in the GN thread is pretty accurate, but for some reason, it appears GN has stopped posting crowler release information on FB anymore. I'm not exactly sure how to obtain crowler release information at the present time, other than to give them a call and ask.

    Good luck.
