If anyone is interested I've organized a small bottle share at Labrewatory tomorrow (Thursday Jan 11th) at 7:00 PM. No theme, I'll be bringing a DDG and probably some other stuff. If you end up coming, it would be great to take a crowler home to thank Labrewatory for hosting!

Give me a heads up if you're coming so I can give them an idea of group size.

Sent you a DM. I'm arriving Saturday and flying back Monday so breweries Saturday and Sunday don't have set plans yet for which order I am doing my breweries but right now expected plan is to include
    Ex Novo
    Level
    Wayfinder
    Upright
with a short stop at Great Notion for potential crowlers and bottle shops for De Garde and pFriem stuff.

Hey guys! Another BA reached out to me, but you PDX folks are likely better equipped to help him. He broke his favorite beer glass, and is looking for a replacement. it was a Logsdon glass, seems to to be the "tall tulip" (don't know the name of this style glass), with a relatively short stem. Logsdon doesn't seem to have a merch page on their site, so, any of you guys know where dude can find a replacement?

I've got one of those, it came in a gift set that I bought at the old farmhouse brewery that's no longer open to the public.

Did they reopen the barrel house in downtown Hood River yet?

I might have 2, will check when I get home. I'd happily part with one.

For reference, this is the glass I have-- photo is not mine. Not sure if it's the one in question. (I just missed the 15 min edit limit

No retail Logsdon space open currently, but they mention the Volcanic Bottle Shop in HR on their website. I wonder if they've got glassware?

I think I may have seen these over at John's as well (probably from gift packs they broke down). If @Highbrow is unable to obtain a glass elsewhere, I'd be happy to run over and check.

I just took a quick look at Volcanic's site, and they have an "Other goods" section, but it came up blank. Might be worth an Email.

Gotta wonder about the business model (or lack thereof) for Logsdon. They make some fantastic beer, but the closure of the Farm for tasting visits and the swift open/close for the bar in Hood River are puzzling.

The closure of the farm to the public sucks but it isn't puzzling. Super narrow one-lane gravel road that wasn't designed for the amount of traffic they were getting (cars, tour buses, etc.) and neighbors that weren't thrilled.

I seem to recall that the County (or other local gubmint entity) shut down the tasting room on the farm. Plus, the new owners seemed to have a bit of a different vision than the original owners. Those beers are great, for sure. Remind me to go grab a Seizoen Bretta, been too long since I've had one.

Well, since this thread has gone completely off the rails (so far, in fact, that the train is now in Hood River), please allow me to redirect your attention to Portland.

Here's a nice write-up of what we have to look forward to in 2018, at least as far as new brewing concerns are concerned: The New School's Most Anticipated New Oregon Breweries of 2018.

It's nice to see most of them are in Portland proper, especially after a 2017 that saw relatively little action in the new brewery realm, and relatively robust action in the closing/now closed realm.

Hot damn there's a lot of new breweries opening in Portland that I've never heard of.

Well if you could stay near Great Notion or Wayfinder you would be near a lot of excellent breweries. A lot of the new school breweries are in that general area and I really personally can't stand the area west of the river. It always seems to take a while to get anywhere in a car.

In case anyone cares, I visited Level, Wayfinder, and Ex Novo this past weekend and was most impressed by Wayfinder of the 3. Ex Novo had a decent session hazy but the hazy IPA was not what I would call hazy.

Wayfinder's hazy was exploding with grapefruit hop character and their dopplebock was lovely. Level was not very exciting either and since it was my last stop of the night I don't believe I finished most of the tasters. Thankfully I grabbed some fresh Fort George hazy cans as those were fantastic.

I was also much more impressed by Great Notion this time around since I was able to try their double hazy stuff. I'm not a fan of maple so I never cared for double stack but their super over ripe was a flavor explosion and blew me away.

Sorry. Totally missed it. I was so busy with work, I wasn’t checking BA.

I was leaving in Friday anyway, so it wouldn’t have worked out. I’ll just have to make a Cali trip at some point.
