I'll be visiting Providence in mid May for business. Staying at the Omni & conference at the convention center. Won't have a car.

Been looking through reviews and postings. Seems not much love for Trinity (one of the parties will be there), though there are no current reviews. Any places close to where I'll be worth going to? Probably can grab a cab if it's not in walking distance.

Where would you bring a beer lover?

    Thanks as always!

The Dorrance, Rogue Island, Eno's Fine Wines are all walking distance from your hotel. I haven't been yet but I hear the bars at the Dean Hotel are good. There is a german spot with local craft and German beer, a Japanese style karaoke lounge and a high end cocktail bar. If you have a day to yourself you can take the hour long train into Boston.

It's Providence - everything is relatively close and Uber is always an option. In addition to the above, Julians and Pizza J on the West End are good, as is The Avery (all very close to one another). I like What Cheer a lot, but it's not really all that close to where you are staying.

The Malted Barley just opened a second location on Westminster Street, all they serve for food are pretzels and pretzel sandwiches but they are great! They will have a good selection of local beers from Grey Sail and Proclamation to name a few breweries. The Eno bottle shop mentioned above is like a block away. And a block in the other direction on Westminster Street is Providence Coal Fired Pizza, always delicious especially the white clam and potato pizza special. For taps they'll usually have a few local options and either Stone IPA or Enjoy By.

Most of my recs have already been mentioned, I'd say that Trinity isn't bad at all. Decent pub grub for cheap, and they'll have a solid beer every now and then. Scurvy Dog also typically has a nice selection - total dive, but cool place to hang out. You could easily take an uber there.

I live in Providence as well, so feel free to PM me with any questions. I'm always happy to pop bottles too.

Federal Taphouse in federal hill has a nice selection and raw bar.

    Ladder 133. Wild Colonial.

If you can make it up to Pawtucket (15 mins from downtown if that), Doherty's is fantastic.

Another vote for malted barley and rogue island, which should be easily walkable from the Omni. Other options mentioned are good too, by uber or cab.

Thanks for the great info. I'll do some mapping and work out where to go.

I've got Sunday morning & afternoon, 5/15 free. Might be persuaded to snag some Pliny to trade.
