I'm visiting San Diego Wednesday through Sunday and am looking for recommendations on breweries to visit. Obviously there are plenty of great hoppy beers, which I'll definitely seek out, but I'm also a big fan of mixed fermentations. Is anyone brewing solid Saisons/brett beers/rustic beers/sours etc? I'm staying downtown but I'm willing to drive a bit.

This will be my second time in San Diego, and I visited several breweries last time I was there. Plus I'm from Colorado and would prefer to avoid places that distribute here (Green Flash, Lost Abbey, Stone etc.) Those places are awesome, but I'd love to find some cool hidden gems or places off the beaten path. Help me out San Diego BAs!

So much effort put into typing this up, so little effort in searching/looking at the first two pages...

Wow. You guys are so much friendlier than the mountain forum.

I did in fact look through the first few pages of the pacific forum. I didn't see many answers to my specific question about sour/rustic/farmhouse/brett/saison etc. The "Visiting San Diego - Summer 2015" thread mentioned Council and Toolbox, but I was hoping for a few more options.

Anyone who's not a jerk care to share an opinion?

We can hope for a few more options but there really aren't any. Places like Division 23, 32 North, etc...will usually have 1 beer on that would fit into those that you are seeking but San Diego doesn't have any brewery aside from the 2 you listed that are brewing solely those styles. Although (and I hate to mention it) Cellar 3 by GF might be what you are looking for. We need our IPAs yo!

Don't let our online personas fool you, most of us aren't actually that terrible to have a beer with, hehe. =P Now when I was out in CO the other week, well that was a different story. Maybe it was non-native CO'ians but the few bars I went into were brutaljuice to deal with.

    Cheers.

This is equivalent of asking people in France where you can find good Mexican. If you're not from San Diego you should fully take advantage of the outstanding IPA's that are brewed here and get zero distribution.
