If you want a simple answer to your q, go to slaters 50/50 as it meets your prerequisites though you'll need to check their taplist.

Stone in Escondido is pretty great for kids. We always just sit down in the garden area, order drinks and food from the bar, and bring them down there. Sometimes you can even trick a waiter/waitress into taking your order and/or bringing down your food when it's ready.

Rip Current North park tends to have a few sours on tap and is kid friendly I think. Some others can correct me.

Oh I read your post wrong. Yeah Stone tends to have a lot of sours and is an OK stop if you don't mind a big restaurant.

very comprehensive info. the map is handy too. I was gonna do some research and sift through. but the san diego beer scene seems a slight overwhelming. my s/o is heading there in early May, so I'll just direct her to that map & this thread. let her deal with it all

Feel free to PM me with some info if you want some tailored suggestions. I don't have any broader list of must-visit spots because not everyone wants to drive as far as Miramar or even further north to Vista.

Wow, great thread. Lots of good stuff!

I'll be visiting from IL 3/25-3/29. Traveling with 1 yr old and a moderately tolerant wife. Will be staying in Del Mar and renting a car. This is a non-beer centric family trip; but still have plans to swing by Modern Times and Alesmith for beers I already bought on BPT. Societe and Abnormal sound interesting. Obrien's and Toronado, and Best Damn Beer Shop would all be nice if there's time. Any other suggestions from locals is appreciated.

In addition to the places you mentioned ... with those two criteria, you should seriously consider one of the several Pizza Ports near Del Mar ... super kid friendly, excellent food and plenty of quality beers

Absolutely. Del Mar is one of the few areas that doesn't have brewery tasting rooms but it is a good central location and easy to get to the Miramar breweries from there. Modern Times would be easy to hit if you were heading Downtown for a certain day and wanted to stop on the way North since it is right off the freeway. Most Miramar breweries are kid friendly from what I've seen.

Are there certain styles you are more interested in trying? That would determine which others I would recommend you hit up.

Pizza Port is very close to our hotel, thanks!

Favorite styles: barrel aged stouts, stone fruited sours, lambics, single hopped APA and IPAs.

Any idea how much Toronado charges for Cable Car?

It'd be nice if Cork and Craft still had Turbidity on tap.

And that is assuming they even sell a bottle.

Not sure this is the best forum, but . . . can anyone tell me the current price of growlers at Societe? The actual glass/SS containers? My long-ago memory is that they were damn expensive, like ridiculously so.

I think the 2L SS is $25 and $15 for the 1L. The insulated double walls were more. I think they fill blank SS or flip tops though.
