not to turn another thread into FoodAdvocate, but any good lunch recommendations near Rip Current & Toolbox? Thinking of swinging by around lunchtime this weekend. Saw that Rip Current usually has a truck but can't find a schedule anywhere

If I am hungry at Rip Current I usually just go to Churchill's.

Keep checking back, it is about that time that @Xul might make an updated one for Springtime visitors since he usually does it quarterly if a lot has changed.

Waiting patiently for Spring update. Visiting SD for the first time in June. This thread has made my life equally easier AND more difficult. So much good beer out there.

Hey guys, I'll be staying in the La Jolla cove area with my family (2 younger kids.) If you could only recommend 1 or 2 places to stop along typical family tourist places going to/from La Jolla, where would you recommend I go? Modern Times, maybe Societe? Thanks!

Hey, my brother is heading to San Diego later this week. I was thinking of asking him to look for a bottle of Parabola for me if there was any still to be found around the city. I've never had it. Any chance it's still in stores? Thanks...

Those bottles are long gone. Your best bet is to try for an IP trade to land one.

I spotted a couple bottles at Fallbrook liquor on Friday, so it's still out there, just maybe in out of the way places.

Going to spend the 4th of July weekend in La Jolla/San Diego with a couple of friends. They are not huge on craft beers but are up for visiting a brewery. That said, which of the breweries do you guys think has the best overall ambience? Stone Escondido?

Also have found this thread helpful, although I won't be headed there until July for the All Star Game.

For the next update, should @Xul care to continue, it should be noted that it looks like Downtown Johnny Brown's closed recently, according to their Facebook.

Thanks again for putting this information together.

Yeah, they just closed a few weeks ago and will be removed on the next update (which I'll post around 07/01, so keep your eye out if you're coming after then).

This was the most ridiculous thing I've ever read when the article was published. The bathroom hallway was 2" too thin? GFY.

I was a big fan of this place and the bartenders/beer manager. Where else could you always get a proper/full pint of pliny for $5?

Stuck in Mission Bay without a car. Will likely cab to a spot or two, but is there anything around here?
    How's Amplified??? Mike Hess? Culture?

Not looking for any particular styles, just good beer, preferably a-typical.

All different from each other. All pretty good. Depends what you want. Amplified to me is more your IPAs, Belgians, "normal" beers. Mike Hess is your sessionable Kolsch, Wheat, Brown, Cream Ale. Culture has pretty good sours/funky things, plus Pales, IPAs, etc. I'd go with Culture, or Amplified if you want food (middle easternish).
