I've been meaning to do this forever as I live super close by, and I've enjoyed their BBQ at events around town. Potentially extremely stupid question: do they provide cups? I only ask because I have been to places like this on the east coast (not BBQ, but lobster shack type places) where you could bring your own booze, but you also needed to bring your own cups.

They have cups there, or at least always have when I've gone.

Anyone have an idea when the summer version of this post will be released?

Whenever @Xul feels like it. Although not a lot has changed based on the information posted, so it wouldn't surprise me if he was waiting until the Fall to post a new one.

Heading downtown to spend 6 days/5 nights with no car starting mid-next week and I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what to do beer-wise. This has been tremendously insightful. Let's just have someone change the title of the thread.

This is a pretty exciting weekend with Modern Times 3rd anniversary, OTL, and the all-star weekend festivities.

Not to mention that the Tony Gwynn museum is opening inside of Alesmith today to the public.

Along those lines, I don't arrive until Thursday. Any events I should be aware of?

Also, I've been scouring the bar/brewery websites to see what's on draft. Damn, I hope some of these things stay on tap for another week!

I'm in SD this week for the all star game. This thread has been really helpful!

Bottlecraft also has modern times blam blam on tap, which I thought was great.

And Neighborhood has a nice taplist right now, including Pliny and Blind Pig.

So anyone actually stay at the Lafayette?

I booked a room there for the wife and I for 5 nights during the week at the end of July...no kids and we want to chill along with drink good beer.

It gets good reviews but also gets quite a few negative "It's a young person's party hotel! Too loud!" type of reviews.....any BA's want to chime in??

I've stayed there many times. It does tend to attract a younger crowd mainly because of the pool. It has never been too loud for me but it depends on where your room is located. During the week, you should be totally fine though. It's also within walking distance to so much so I think you'll be very happy with that.

Stayed in one of the bungalows in the back super cool place and a great location. We were there in February and stayed in the back so I can't say how the noise level was.

I stayed there in one of the rooms just above the pool and it was great. We didn't have any problems with noise.

Ok cool. I'll stick with the plan. Looks like there just might be some "get off my lawn" folks leaving reviews.

    Thanks fellas.

I've stayed there once and thought it was pretty cool. A little quirky but fun.

I am currently staying downtown. Looking for a place that sells styro shippers or something to send my beer home in

Basically any uHaul store will cover this need.

Edit: Since you are downtown you could go by Best Damn Beer Shop and ask them if they have any.

So just arrived at the Lafayette. There's a group of like 5 folks hanging out on our patio outside the room and a DJ... guess it's first come first serve?
They'll be a DJ and party tomorrow....

    I think I've made a mistake....

    Fuck I'm old....and now I'm grumpy.

Just got back from 5 days in SD. Loved nearly everything about the trip.

Went to Bottlecraft (little Italy) and Ballast Point (little Italy)
Went to Stone(Escondido), Societe, Blind Lady Ale House, and Modern Times Lomaland
Went to Belching Beaver, Rip Current, and Toronado
Went to Stone (liberty)and Modern Times Lomaland
    Went to Coronado Brewing
Went to Stone in the airport

The only one I was disappointed with was Blind Lady Ale House. Maybe I picked the wrong night but this place seemed a lot more about the food than the beer and their tap list was pretty weak. I'm really shocked they are named a top 100 bar. Also a ton of kids. Coronado I didn't expect much and didn't plan on going but we walked by so we had a couple.

The only questionable place we went was The Mission for breakfast. The place itself had a great breakfast but my god there were a ton of homeless on the sidewalks just camping out. I can't imagine buying a place down there and having to deal with it everyday.

Everyone we talked to was nice, Uber worked well, and it seems like a great place to live.

Glad you had a good time! Sorry you ended up at The Mission in East Village. There are other locations that aren't quite like the one in East Village. I do feel for the homeless in East Village. They're in a tough spot. It's an issue that the city needs to prioritize instead of pretending it doesn't exist.

Re: BLAH, I agree there are always wayyyyyy too many kids, but their taplist is usually pretty solid and occasionally stellar. There are definitely times I've been there where I've been disappointed, but usually I find something exciting on the board.

    Cheers!
