In a few days ill be working out of San Pedro and staying in a local hotel for several weeks. What are the best breweries and bottle shops around? Im just coming from Ventura County so there may not be much difference in availability for bottles. BTW anyone want to trade a smog city infinite wishes for a barrelworks sour?

San Pedro native here! Pretty much your only option in town is the San Pedro Brewing Company. It's not bad, but it's nothing spectacular. Beachwood BBQ in Long Beach is 15 minutes away, so you're much better off going there. Also, you have Stearns Liquor and Wine Country in Long Beach for bottles. The Torrance breweries (Smog City, Monkish, Phantom Carriage, and Strand) are like 20 minutes away...just make sure you check to see if they're open beforehand. 25 minutes away you have Select Beer Store and Naja's Place in Redondo

So you have plenty of options...you just have to drive

Check out a mediterraneo on the Hermosa Pier. Excellent tapas and great bottle and tap list.

Oh yeah, I think I wanted to try that place when i was down that way a few weeks ago but they were not open. Ended up going to hots kitchen down the street which had semi decent stuff on tap.

Hot's isn't too bad. A bit on the pricey side, though. Even an 8 oz. pour of Grapefruit Sculpin over there is like $8.

Mickey McColgan's doesn't look like much outside your basic Irish pub, but they usually have some hyper-local stuff (Three Weavers has been on of late), for a bit more reasonable pricing. Abigaile's right up the street too, and I typically enjoy their house brews.

I second Beachwood in downtown LB, amazing varieties and great guest taps, oh, their food is also top notch. You can also venture five minutes from BWLB and hit up the spots on 2nd St. in Belmont Shore, Simmzy's, Tavern on 2 and Quinns all have great taps and really good food.

    Cheers…….

Hit Public Wine if you end up going to Beachwood. Great bottle shop and tap list. Check theie IG for possible tap take overs that week.
