RockCreek in Fremont is a terrific spot for seafood. The Walrus & The Carpenter and Manolin, not far away, are outstanding as well.

For cheap bahn mi, this list should help guide you.

 

Ray’s Cafe for seafood, good beer, and one of the best views in the city. Make sure you ask for a seat outside.

For some of the best food and one of the best tap lists in the city, go to The Shambles. Don’t walk, run to The Shambles.

 

Is this different then rays boathouse? We ate there and there was a seal popping up outside the whole time. Food was incredible too.

 

It's the same but Ray's Boathouse is the more formal restaurant on the bottom floor and Ray's Cafe is upstairs.

 

If you can get out for lunch, Salumi near Pioneer Square has incredible sandwiches.

 

You'll also be here for a bunch of Seattle Beer Week; you might want to check out the events list and see if anything looks interesting/can fit into your itinerary.

 

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I'll definitely check those places out. As for beer week, I think I'll try to hit the sourfest at Brouwer's on Thursday night and then the event at Beveridge Place Pub on Friday. I'm hoping to get a pour of some Floodland somewhere during the week. Fingers are crossed.

Really looking forward to Holy Mountain, Cloudburst, Reubens and Fremont as well.

Also, read through the thread. Yeah, there's some chaff, but there's also a ton of wheat. You won't just have to eat grinders while you're here.

 

Banh mi recommendation downtown from me and my Vietnamese coworker is Thanh Son Tofu on South King Street.

 

Trip update. Urban Family Has not disappointed at all. Guava Dawn, Gamebreaker, Perpetuation, sacred arrow, Tin Can Telephone, Heel Turn, are all great to incredible. Hit up Old Stove Brewing (wrath of zorak,cannonball ipa, pomegranate sour, gose, tiger shark pale, fancy pants porter) for a solid flight and cool atmosphere. Ravenna Brewing while being kind of a hole in the wall had some solid hazy beers (Brewers Knuckles, delivium). Stopped at chucks 85th during ipa fest or whatever and had a few (reubens/block 15 intergalactic hop shop, Standard brewing H.E. Double hockey sticks). Grabbed a few cans and bottles to go.

 

I really like that Guava Dawn (noticed they've changed up the labelling on it though from the previous releases). Ravenna flies under the radar but does some good stuff, and Old Stove definitely has the best views of any brewery in the city. Glad you enjoyed yourself!

Hey all. This post is to thank everyone for their work in contributing to these recommendations and general discussion. My wife and I just returned home from our trip to WA/OR. I didn’t feel the need to ask for more specific recs because this thread is so thorough and other posts had already asked my only questions. We loved most of the breweries we visited. Our favorites in Seattle had to be Holy Mountain, Fremont, Stoup, and Reuben’s. It’s really hard to pick one favorite!

Thanks for this post and advice. We are heading to Seattle in August. Our beer preferences are more malt forward beers (Porters, ESB, Browns....). Any breweries that you would recommend for us? We will only be there for a few days and we will use public transportation.

Heading to Seattle at the end of next week for a few days and appreciate all the info in this thread and definitely plan on hitting whatever I can. I haven't booked a hotel yet so wondering if there is a better area to stay in to be able to hit some of the better breweries/restaurants? I was thinking about staying in the Capitol Hill/Pike Place area but have no idea if that is ideal or not.
Also my son has celiac and is gluten free, anyone know of any breweries brewing gluten free beers? A longshot I know but thanks in advance for any info.

 

Ghostfish does gluten-free beers, and their website indicates their taproom is family-friendly.

 

Ground Breaker Brewing is in Portland, but bottles and cans should be available. Both of these breweries are 100% dedicated to GF beer.

 

As mentioned, Ghostfish brews gluten-free beers exclusively. Plus, their restaurant features an entirely GF menu.

 

The food and beers are real good.

 

This thread has been very helpful in planning for a trip next week staying in Northwest Queen Anne.

Are there any restaurants, bottle shops, breweries or coffee shops in Queen Anne that are missing from the list below?

• Taylor Shellfish

Also plan on hitting Reubens and Fremont as well as Victrola and Kuma outside of Queen Anne.

 

For coffee, go to Caffe Ladro or El Diablo on the top of the hill and Uptown Espresso (one of the original espresso shops in the city) at the bottom of the hill.

Make sure to hit The Masonry (for pizza and really good beer) in Queen Anne or Fremont. The QA restaurant is 21+ but Fremont is all ages.

In addition to the 50+ games on rotation, they typically have a nice selection of local beers available in bottle/can for consumption while playing.

 

I live in Capitol Hill and would absolutely recommend the area for beer, but not for breweries. there's a handful of breweries... elysian, red hook, optimism, and outer planet, but none of them make the "visiting seattle" list for a variety of reasons. Most of the exciting beer tourism is located south of downtown or in north seattle. if you do stay in capitol hill, there's a variety of amazing beer spots (stumbling monk, pine box, rheinhaus, to name a few), and a lot of great breweries (cloudburst, standard) within short distance. have fun!

 

I'll be in town later this week for an interview and then hanging around for an extra day. Any recommendations for where to enjoy a beer and lightly work (wi-fi and not crazy loud) Friday afternoon? I'll be staying downtown, but can adventure out.

 

if you want to be reasonably close to the airport, Odin Brewing in Tukwila would be my choix for brews + eats + wifi
