Oh, I'm sure this will improve their shitty service and the surliness of their bartenders.

I'm guessing they're trying to increase business and somehow survive financially. Every time I go there it's absolutely dead. And I still can't believe they were just closed for the entire two week Christmas break.

I’m going to be in Bothell for work tomorrow. Any recommendations for something on the 405 side of the lake to wait out rush hour traffic a bit on my way back south? Breweries preferred.

There's not much as far as breweries go in Bothell proper, but if you head just east of 405 into Woodinville there are a few. Bosk Brew Works comes recommended and is my personal favorite in that area. Good Brewing just north of that is solid and has a cool spot with great neighborhood vibes.

Just south you'll find Sumerian and Black Raven, both good but I'd give the nod to Black Raven. Further south you'll find Chainline and Postdoc, both worth a visit. Postdoc has a great barreling program and seems to be fairly underrated.

That Bosk location looks perfect, thanks!

I actually just noticed that they're closed on Tuesdays which is a bummer, so you may need to head south a bit. There are a couple other breweries right in that area (20 Corners, Triplehorn, Metier, Crucible), but they're mostly mediocre (imo). Now that I think about it, I haven't been to Metier, so who knows...

Not a brewery, but I would totally recommend The Bine for beer and food. Walking distance to the Hop and Hound for more beer / a little beer shopping.

Good, Black Raven, and The Bine all look like good alternatives. Chainline too.

Bonus points if any of them have fresh hop beers on!

As someone who works in Bothell, I second The Bine. Good happy hour, and you can see what’s on tap beforehand via the DigitalPour app.

The Bine is a staple in my diet, as is Hop and Hound. Highly recommend both! Stoup's I Like Big Bines should still be on tap (their anniversary brew) and it's fantastic.

I also would recommend The Bine. But if you want a brewery, the new Black Raven location is really nice. I really dislike their entire lineup of malty IPAs so I don't generally recommend them unless something special is on tap, but their tap list (on Untappd) is showing some leftovers from their recent anniversary party. Splinters and Possum Claus, specifically.

Thanks everyone! I went with The Bine since they had Bosk on tap AND food. The Bosk Mirror Images is really nice. I’ll keep this list around for future trips up here.

Going to be in Northgate on Tuesday for work really close to the mall and North Seattle College. Is the best place to go Chuck's on 85th or are there any other suggestions? Won't have a car, and will be taking a Lyft from the UW train stop.

If you're looking for food and good beer, I would pick The Shambles. It will have a much smaller beer selection than Chuck's, but all excellent beers, and very good food at decent prices. The taplist, address, and other info is here: http://www.delimeatsbar.com/taplist It's about a mile and a half from Northgate.

If you're just going for beer (with maybe food truck offerings) and want the maximum selection, sure, Chuck's on 85th.

I agree 100% that The Shambles is your best bet by a stretch if you're looking for food as well. Full disclosure: The Shambles is my favorite bar/restaurant in the city.

Another thing to keep in mind comparing Chuck's and The Shambles is that the latter is 21+ and Chuck's is, shall we say, very much not.

Lastly, if you get stuck in Northgate --- meaning you can't or don't want to travel the 1.5 miles to The Shambles, Watershed right there very near the mall is a more than decent alternative.

[Come to think of it, mods: Watershed should be added to the Beer-centric Restaurants list.]

I was mostly thinking Chucks from a togo standpoint to take back to the hotel. The downside is its difficult to expense only beer and food in two separate checks, where this place could help to solve that. Do they have a togo selection or is everything on-premise?

Is the Northgate Ram still decent?

No to go selection....everything on site. Its always a great tap list though, and the food is dynamite. Not as good as Chucks, but basically on the same block as Shambles is the Last Drop Bottle Shop. Shambles for a meal/drinks and then Last Drop for some to go goodies is a nice 1-2 combo.

The porter is still stellar but the food and service were not great last time I was there earlier this summer.
