It has been hard to not have one at lunch every day. I really appreciate it being on draft this long so I can just have one every other day .

Looks like I will be in Bellevue in a couple of weeks for workNot sure if I will have a car or not. Has much changed in that part of town for beer over the past 3 years, any bottle shops worth hitting or just go to Whole Foods or Total Wine?

Take the bus over to the real city? Sorry. :slight_frown:

It's worth mentioning that Tap House Grill has closed. Not sure anything near downtown Bellevue has changed for the better in those 3 years.

If you're looking for bottles, Malt & Vine is not far away (go after 7 on a weekday to avoid the 520 backup) but it's a worse shop than it was 3 years ago. You could try The Cave if you want bottles (not much on tap) or Thirsty Hop (more on tap, few bottles). Neither existed 3 years ago. Not sure what you are looking for, but the Total Wine and Whole Foods are still around and there's also a Bevmo in the downtown area.

In terms of breweries, I believe Geaux has officially closed down their Bellevue location. Postdoc and Resonate have both opened in the past 3 years.

The man speaks the troof. Even as a life-long Eastsider, I'll be the first to concede there's just too much good stuff across the lake not to hop on the bus and enjoy.

The downtown QFC does growler fills and they're actually a verified Untappd location, so you can at least see what's on tap.

Flying in tomorrow, staying downtown. Thanks for all the great suggestions guys.

Does anyone ever go to McMeniman's anymore? My old friend from Portland used to say good things but I don't know what the quality of the beer & grub is like...

Beer and grub continue to be OK, but no better than that (I would say). The McM beers are generally decent, but with no real standouts. It's the same with the food, though there's some variation.

The problem I have with McM stuff, is that there are just too many other alternatives (both from a beer and food standpoint), most of which are better than what you can get at the McM pubs, and generally at a better price as well.

It's not that I dislike McM establishments, it's just that there are so many other excellent options in the PDX and Seattle area that I think are vastly superior. And so I never even think of going to any McM pub any more.

Some of the lodges are worth a visit (if you were coming down to PDX, I would encourage you to visit either Edgefield or Kennedy school), but in terms of good food and drink, I think you can do better elsewhere.

Got my hotel and Eastgate part of Bellevue if that makes sense, and work is having a car pick me up so no rental. If I was to take a bus over, where is a good spot to go without trying to get too crazy on the bus routes. For fun I checked and the estimate to Fremont was about $30 each way for Uber.

I could easily see this for those cities, but I thought the Bend hotel was awesome. Perfect location and great place to chill in between spots. But again Bend vs PDX and Seattle.

Can't disagree. Still wasn't exactly awed by the quality of the beer there (it wasn't bad though), but the food was pretty good, and I agree it's a cool spot.

The new (relatively) Anderson School McM outpost in Bothell looks like it has at the potential to be a similar point of interest, but I thought it a complete pain in the ass to get to from Seattle, and parking there was pure misery. The one time the wife and I tried to visit, we ended up saying the hell with it after driving aimlessly around the parking lot and the "school" for the better part of half an hour. I would not recommend visiting.

check online draft lists at chucks and teku, along with recent social media for bottle releases and pick one? Teku is probably easier to bus to though. Also have downtown spirits and vine st market right there as well for an additional bottle stop.

Very helpful. Thank you. Looking at it now I could walk to Cloudburst too or viceversa

Sound Transit Bus 554 is the fastest way to get to downtown Seattle from Eastgate. Once downtown use Google maps to find bus routes to different locations. No shortage of buses in Seattle.

If you bus into downtown near Westlake mall and use that as your central point of reference, it's pretty easy to bus around.

You can take the 40 north and it'll go near Fremont (you need to walk a couple blocks). If you keep going about one more stop you will be next to Brouwer's Cafe and if you happen to be here between 12/7 and 12/10 Big Wood will be going on. Keep going even further and it'll drop you off near Reuben's.

Instead of the 40, you could also take the Rapid Ride D north and it will drop you off next to Holy Mountain. Go a bit further and it'll drop you off near Reuben's.

Combine the two and you can do a big loop. If you have an invincible liver, Stoup, Lucky Envelope, Populuxe, Peddler, Maritime Pacific, and Heineken are all within about a quarter mile walk from Reuben's.

All depends how many buses you want to catch, but hitting these are pretty easy if you are interested.
